I have recently began to follow the Blancpain series in the last few years. I really enjoy the racing, but wish we had better TV coverage in the US.

One reason I love it so much is the ridiculous collection of manufacturers involved. BMW, Bentley, Audi, Lamborghini, Mercedes, Ferrari, Nissan, McLaren, and Aston Martin. That has to be the greatest collection of sports car manufacturers involved in any racing series. How do they continue to appeal to all of those companies? I can't even imagine what LMP1 or F1 would be like with that kind of involvement.

Gt racing is now the best form of sports car racing in my view especially blancpain

Sound like racing cars should too

Will be interesting to see if HTP Motorsport will revert to Mercedes AMG cars since they left Bentley.

Also , if Mercedes will send some of their DTM drivers in Blancpain into on their semi-factories cars.

I could easily see Maximilian Gotz going back in GT where he shined most.

Hey Volcano, thanks for making all these smaller series threads. Helps keep 'em in the spotlight.

I love Blancpain and last season was top notch GT racing. Lots of variety, lots of talent and you get to hear John Watson foam at the mouth when some wealthy Russian dude does something moronic.

Also PWC! Are there any recaps / full races of last season on Youtube? That series looks gold too.

A GT thread with more than 2 replies? We're hitting the big time boys!

I'm so looking forward to this season, there's so many new cars coming out and so many great races to watch. First stop, 24 Hours of Dubai!

For me Laurens Vanthoor is still pound for pound the best GT driver in the world

I wonder if he will look to try and get into audis WEC team though at some point

Great, I have a cabin office party right then. But I'll be on the chat/thread. Hope there's some live commentary for the race.

Radio Le Mans have been doing the event commentary (radio + circuit PA + video stream) for the last few years, they've been confirmed ages ago for 2016 too. :)

With only two LMP1s, it will be even harder than before to drive one.

I am actually excited for next year's GT races. Want to see how P Engg would do after strangely Porsche Let him go and BMW signed him.

Also were will Vanthoor go from here after winning nearly everything these past 2 years, a lot of the GT guys were doing LMP2 at lemans. Interesting times

One reason is perhaps that, whilst some are manufacturer approved, they are not works teams (except perhaps Bentley?).

The kiss of death would be an official Audi Sport team or a genuine Ferrari works entry or whatever.  Whilst they are operating at arm's length, the big boys can bask in any success whilst overlooking any defeats.  A serious works entry would quickly gives us a Mercedes F1 or Citroen WTCC style walkover with the privateers soon pulling out.

You're welcome for the people who enjoy these threads, every series deserves some kind of recognition!

Bentley I think is a work team in BEC, in the sprint series it was Bentley Team HTP.

Unsure about livestreams, I try to catch the recaps on TV but if they had the races live it would be awesome.

Here is PWC's official youtube channel, only highlights it appears but there are probably full races somewhere on YT.

https://www.youtube....ngeTV/featured

World Challenge, even though it is North America only, is our Blancpain pretty much.

Teo Martín Motorsport has confirmed they merge with Emilio de Villota's team and that they plan to run a couple of BMW M6 GT3s in the International GT Open next year, so no McLaren connection for them anymore.

Says a lot about WRT when they have an amateur, a 60 year old, and a rookie to the team driving with Vanthoor and they still manage to win, and that is why they are my favourite GT team

Scuderia Praha get a one race ban: http://www.autosport...t.php/id/122506

"Due to the accident (avoidable collision) during the Hankook 24H Dubai, as well as several incidents in previous races or the 24H Series, organiser Creventic has decided team Scruderia Praha is not to welcome in the next round of the 24H Series, the Hankook 12H Italy-Mugello," the statement read.

Strange that it's the team and not the driver that gets the ban.

It is not strange, entrant has the responsibility for its drivers.

But Creventic has had the balls unlike SRO, which didn't ban Vadim Kogay after 2014 Monza antics. It is worth of reminding that Kogay was later that year involved in collision at Spa, which sent Marcus Mahy to intensive care with neck injuries. So banning Scuderia Praha seems to be a rather adequate measure.

That Prius looks more like a GT500 car. It will look pretty weird next to all the European GT3 cars.

McLaren GT unveil their roster:

http://www.dailyspor...ver-roster.html

Notable lack of Senna and Van Gisbergen, although i don't know if they've left or are doing one offs or whatever.

Aside from that, am I the only one that thinks the lineup is a little weak? After losing Estre, Parente is the only 'A level' driver they have, no disrepect to Bell or any of the others.

Japanese F3 camp Nick Cassidy will join Super GT

http://www.motorspor...uper-gt-671737/

The article mentioned he will still be racing in single seaters, so maybe SF?

Acura will move to a RWD base for their PWC campaign for 2016.

Felix Rosenqvist is in for a busy 2016. In addition to Indy Lights he's also gonna take part in the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup for AKKA-ASP and has landed the role as test and reserve driver for AMG-Mercedes in DTM.

Bentley #8 (Andy Soucek/Maxime Soulet) surprisingly wins the first sprint of the Blancpain season and could lose it again

Pit stop of winning Bentley is under investigation. Heard that they have a bit o discuss in general in race control #BlancpainGT

Have to say that I found that "debris" caution a bit strange, we never saw where the debris was and it handed the race perfectly into the hands of the Rowe BMW and M-sport Bentley.

Btw, impressed by Dries Vanthoor!

So Bentley failed to change a tyre at the pit stop in qualifying race and didn't get a penalty, just a fine? That's just not right.

Also, bet Frinjs is gutted he's been lumbered with the younger Vanthoor. Don't think he will be challanging for titles this year.

What was the reason why they didn't change the tyre? surely they couldn't have forgotten about it! A safety car for debris that we never saw was all a bit Nascar aswell.
