You can spend a lot less than that and have a very good multi purpose PC chap.
Mine cost just under 500 quid and can play Dirt Rally and the like perfectly well and AC.
All you are usually paying for with a grand is a serious motherboard, processor and 400 quids worth of graphics card ( the most expensive and vital part for top end gaming). The rest is all stuff you can very easily add. SSD for Windows for example, they are dirt cheap.
What does peeve me now is that most gaming PC's come without a DVD drive, meaning you have to buy an external and that is nowhere near as easy to use as it should be! lol
