Can anyone help me identify this steering rack fitted to my clubman? (Hopefully this is the correct place to ask).
It has the number 4261586 cast into the aluminium body/housing.

Not Triumph or Morris Minor. I don't think it is Vauxhall/Opel either. Citroen were early users of rack & pinion. It may help if you tell us the make of your clubman's car.

Don't know about the rack but the joints at the end of the rack appear to be the same type as those used on Jack Knight racks in the 60s/70s but the other way round - I think they might be Renault Dauphine. The end with the castellations is internally threaded and a split pin stops the joint from turning once it has been screwed onto the end of the rack in the JK (and I'm assuming Renault) installation.

I can't help much but my Formula Vee has that same type of rod end on the front of the gear shift and I always wondered what it was off.

Those inner joints are identical to those used on Renault Dauphine and I assume its Renault 4CV predecessor. My guess is Renault 4CV.

I have found my ancient Ren 750 workshop manual, looked at the drawing, and reckon that's it. Unfortunately, postimage seems to be refusing to copy/paste at the moment or I'd put up the drawing.

The car is a Minda, built by Peter Beasley in South Australia (I believe he built about 15 cars)
Will check the threads are on the rack

Got it up as a thumbnail, don't ask me what's going on with postimage. For my money that's it no question.

Just had a Renault bloke here. He says it is Renault,, but without measurements it could be many 50s 60s models. 750, Dauphine, 8, 10.
From my VERY vague memories of helping friends with Tens I feel a lot of the components will interchange. Boots, tie rod ends etc. But we are talking info from near 40 years ago!!
