Hi people! Just had this idea. Here's a disclaimer though: I have no real in depth technical knowledge and the idea is an if-if idea so I don't know if it will work. I don't know if it would be a good addition for the racing quality either, as the idea is just as last-resort as DRS. It probably wouldn't be. But here goes anyway:

If mechanical grip contributes to cars better following through corners, mechanical grip should be increased. Will it be increased by an active suspension? If it will, should we install an active suspension to temporarily kick in while following another car?

This was exactly the idea that the FIA had a couple of years ago. The FIA wanted to re-introduce active suspension and have the same control over the ride-height as they have over fuel-consumption now. This would mean they could say that the front and the rear have to 'X' ride-height during the race. Make that height high enough the infamous 'scrolling' of the air behind the car (because of the effectiveness of the diffusor) is eradicated.

Ah, I didn't know of that, thanks. Interesting idea.

It's a different interpretation of my idea though, I had an active suspension a la williams '93 in mind for the following car. The FIA idea just heightens the suspension of the car that is in front to reduce wake for the following car, if I interpret your words right.
