2016 will bring new tyres and new rules.

As we well know, for at least half of the season there will be a lerning courve regarding the new compounds and the choices to be made regarding what tyres to pick for each race.

For me, one big factor in this equation will be the driver. How he can manage the sets, nurture them in qualification and race to make them perform and last as much possible... to avoid an extra pit stop or to not be in the situation to have the tyre explode due to massive wear...

Keep in mind that the new rules will allow teams to have a lot of different strategyes - and those strategyes will be also based on the lows and strenghts of the drivers regarding tyre management.

So, for you - who will be the " Tyre Whisperer " during 2016 season? And why?

I think it is a little bit different than the usual tyre whisperer story. I don't think that this will be much different than it is now, therefore the drivers who are known for being good in nursing the tyres will be stil the same drivers. But something else will be important this year: the drivers have possibly to adapt to three different tyre compounds per weekend instead of two. They have to nail the setup for these three tyre compounds unless they decide beforehand to just use two, which might be an disadvantage. Personally I believe that the characteristics of the cars will play a key role. You can also discuss whether certain driver types (technical vs. natural) will have an advantage.

However, to answer the poll question: On most circuits Pirelli will provide one compound of softer tyres than usual. Drivers like Rosberg and especially Kimi are said to struggle with harder tyres, so theoreticaly it should help them, though I didnt really saw this pattern in their respective team battles.

In the end it is likely that Perez will be once again the best tyre whisperer of F1

Tyre whispering is so much more car than driver related.
