Dear all!

I'm in the proces of scanning a large-ish collection of F1 pictures and posting them to Flickr. I think they may be of interest to F1 fans.

They were taken by my late uncle between 1977 and 1992. They have never been published before.

You can find them here: https://www.flickr.c.../139254595@N05/

Please note that these images are copyrighted. I post them for personal use only.

Enjoy!

Thank you so much for posting these photographs, they are wonderful.

It really does look like a different age now.

Love the shot of Villeneuve with his middle finger salute

These are rather good.

Can I suggest you drop the resolution a bit so that they can't be used for publishing or make them so they can't be downloaded.

But thanks for posting  :)

Very good, thanks for sharing

There are definitely a few there that pre date 1977 ( Graham Hill for instance and the one of Mike Hailwood looks to be 1974 )

Thanks!

May I ask.....Who was your uncle?

My dear uncle's name was Virgilio "Niki" Zangrando (no link to Lauda). Sometime in the 70s he befriended some people in the Ferrari racing team. Other than that he had no connections to the racing world.

He's in some of the pictures that I have not scanned yet. In https://www.flickr.c...N05/23610467353 you can see half his face on the left edge of the frame. The woman with the groovy sunglasses was his girlfriend.

Edit: you can also see him in https://www.flickr.c...eposted-public/

Thanks for pointing that out! 1977-1992 was just my best guess, I don't know a lot about F1 :)

Ivan Capelli. That section of photos look like some sort of off season testing between 1990 & 1991

A great selection of high-quality shots. thank you for posting. Nice to see the F1 circus in slightly more relaxed mode than one would see on the day of a grand prix

F1_0685 = Caliri[/size]

Not quite, it is Tommaso Carletti, Ferrari, Renault and Ligier race engineer. Did the bi-plane for the C2 (Long Beach).

Very nice set of slides. Also many show Ferrari engineer Maurizio Nardon.

I could use some more help with identifying a few drivers, probably too easy:

Eddie Cheever, either 87 or 88

Stefano Modena 1991

Patrese, I'd say 89/90

Patrese, 83?

Olivier Groulliard, 1990

James Hunt, not sure when

Unsure

Lauda, 84 or 85

Excellent, thank you.

Perhaps given time you can assemble them all into albums for easier reference?

I reckon it's Jochen Mass, vintage 1975:

0066 is Riccardo Patrese from the 1988 season at Hockenhelm (Germany), you can tell by the Barclay logo on his sleeve.  in 89 Williams drivers didn't have Barclay logos on the sleeves (had Fondmetal instead) and in 1990 their overall was in blue colour.

0396 is Niki Lauda from the 1985 season, you can tell by the Marlboro and Segafredo logos on his helmet, he had Parmalat logos on his helmet in 1984.

Also the rear wing in 1985 didn't have the winglets protruding from the front like the 1984 version

The photo of Patrese in the Brabham BT50 can only have been taken in 1982.

The photo of James Hunt is from his Hesketh days - 1975, I believe.
