I am trying to find out the color of the Alan Brown Ford Galaxies that were raced in the British Saloon Car Championship in 1964; specifically the dark color of the car that Dan Gurney raced at Silverstone International race in May 1964 wearing the #52.  I have found black and white photos but nothing in color.  Any help would be appreciated.  Tom

I wasn't aware that Alan Brown had more than one Galaxie in his racing stable? The Goodwood programme for the 1964 Easter Monday meeting lists it as being "white". It may have been given a new paint job later in the season. Brabham's Alan Brown Mustang that he raced in 1965 was a shade of red.

I have got a VHS copy of Year of the Cortina and I am sure the car appears in that, including the International Trophy saloon event. If nobody else comes up with the answer I will dust down the old video player and try to provide you with the answer.

Here is a photo of the Brabham/Alan Brown Galaxie at the 1964 Goodwood Easter Monday meeting, apparently before he crashed it in practice.  Looks white:

Here is a b + w video of the Silverstone International, which shows the Gurney/Alan Brown Galaxie, as Rupert shows, #52.  Perhaps it was repainted after the Goodwood crash?

Those early Galaxie lightweight [but still heavy]  427 cars were all painted white by the factory.

Probably why most we see are!

It was dark blue at the Gold cup at Oulton Park in September

I have just watched the VHS clip of the 1964 Silverstone International Trophy Meeting Saloon event and the car was definitely blue by then, but I wouldn't describe it as dark blue though, or not very dark anyway.

ISTR that it was white at the 1963 6hrs race when there was a lot of contention about the spec as delivered from the US. I will try to contact the car's then owner's daughter to see if she recalls the colour history of the car. In conversation previously she had clear memories.

Edit , alter divert, predictive? , to delivered. RL

Definitely white for that event Roger ( I have some film of the race), and I am sure for the rest of the season. I am pretty sure it changed colour between the Goodwood event and The International Trophy meeting in 1964. I don't know how much damage the car suffered in Brabham's practice shunt at Goodwood. Could it have required a new body shell?

Could be right Roger.
I got an almost identical add where he put for sale the Group 5 Mustang droven by Jack Braham.
I understand that he did not owned that one. Is that correct Roger?

As I have said before, Brown was only the entrant. I have no wish to denigrate the man, but he never had that sort of money. I have it direct from the daughter of the man who owned it. There are also serious inaccuracies regarding Mr Brown in the Emeryson history too. I also have correspondence from a man who, with his father, worked at the appropriate garage, and he gave me the full history of who was what, did what etc, even though not really pertinent to my own research. Also confirmed year s ago via message via Sir Jack Brabham's office
