Calender picks should be revealed soon although didn't Channel 4 say they were going to be announced in Febuary?
First thing I am going to talk about though is Sky.. I wonder if we will see an update to their graphics package, they did their last update 2 years ago so I wonder if we will see another one this year.

Doubt Natalie Pinkham will be involved judging by the size of that bump!
She's taking a break mid-season so Rachel Brookes and Craig Slater will be covering her again.

Japan not yet sure who will do TV for F1 2016 or even whether there will be F1 on TV. Word is that Fuji TV recently said "still in negotiation" to the question made by f1 magazine but that's it. Also the word is that FOX Asia acquired the F1 TV rights for all Asia incl Japan but they havent said anything afaik.
Personally I just want to subscribe Great Britain's SkyF1 online streaming. Happily pay 1 or 2 hundred euro a year. FOM should just allow online streaming for ALL the TV station completely geo-lock free. Only Great Britain's SkyF1 would "win" cos taking advantage of English err "universal" language, but would geo-unlocked UKSkyF1 online streaming really threaten local, i mean other non-English TVs? I dont think so. Idea is that they can redistribute the extra revenue SkyF1 would get to other countries TV or just lower overall fee. Just do it. Like WEC.
but they wouldnt. agh.

I wonder with her second baby she will permanently retire next year, she only ever appears at european races anyway...

Only thing wrong with Sky coverage, in my opinion, is Craig Slater. He asks the stupidest questions.

I actually don't mind any of them and I really liked that Craig appeared more on Sky's coverage last year. With Natalie taking a break later his role will probably increase further.
To be honest I think Rachel Brookes should be given the main presenter role, she is basically the Sky version of Lee Mckenzie and she definitely feel more confident behind the mic than Simon Lazenby, who I quite like, but for me Rachel is the better presenter.

With the kindest will in the world, she won't be walking up and down the pitlane heavily pregnant.
She'll most likely end up doing the midweek shows that 2 men and a dog watch.

Sky need to get rid of Johnny "sort of" Herbert and Damon "um urr" Hill as they are getting on a bit now and its a bit like listening to your granddad.
I like listening to my granddad.
Exactly .... If Mr. Jessica Chastain up there doesn't pay attention to his elders... he's missing out.
I'd rather listen to Damon than pretty much anybody else on that broadcast.
Would he make a good pundit?
Once again...let grandad talk about whatever he wants. Like the war or how these kids today can't do anything with their hands unless it's twiddling the keys on a phone. It would be vastly more interesting than what these idiots from Potemkin Village bang on about.

I doubt they will announce anything until they're ready to announce everything. Might as well announce the races, presenters and programme format all at the same time and have a big PR push.

Will the races be available on 4OD?
They were on BBC iPlayer when the BBC had it so I expect to see Channel 4 put their coverage on 4OD and All 4.

Why would C4 need to worry about GP2 dates?

Channel 4 will also be able to show races with a one hour delay on 4+1, which is ideal if you like to follow races on Autosport chat and catch up with the action later.

Really looking forward to seeing how C4 handle the challenge, and thinking they'll do a sound job. It will be interesting to see them taking their first steps in F1 too.
Equally pissed off at the way the BBC mandarins dropped their coverage like a hot stone, but I'm learning to accept that the Beeb is changing for the worse and I'm going to have to get used to that.
Sky? Meh. I've simply never been sufficiently impressed with their presentation to make it my first choice, and I'm hoping that C4's coverage will keep that status quo, with Sky as my second-choice alternative.

For the sake of completeness, Damon Hill said at ASI this weekend that he is currently in discussion with Sky for this year, so he is in fact a TBC for now.
Was this in one of the on-stage sessions? Have watched a few but didn't see him talk about Sky, most of it was about 1996 understandably.

Perhaps that was a dig at McLaren. Sort of "You will never beat Mercedes with the same engine, but if Honda build the most powerful one..."

Yep, but sadly I couldn't pinpoint which day and time, simply because I spent seven hours today watching the peeps I was interested in via the Autosport youtube uploads (see the ASI 2016 thread) and have lost all sense of space and time. Was this in one of the on-stage sessions? Have watched a few but didn't see him talk about Sky, most of it was about 1996 understandably.
HH-F brought up the question of Sky and Damon gave it straight. There was nothing to suggest he won't be there, it was very relaxed, so maybe just a case of dotting the i's etc.

Will you include Channel 4+1 in the ratings report on your F1 Broadcasting blog?? And I assume 4OD and All 4 won't be included in the ratings either?

If Sky wanted new people I would go for Will Buxton, Allan McNish and Mark Webber.
Trouble is that all 3 is unlikely anyway as Buxton is committed to NBC Sports, McNish may stay at the BBC and Webber is possibly also unlikely since Reddit are saying that he might have a role of some sort at C4.

A question to DMN:

Yes (although for a live sporting event this really should equate to less than 50k). And correct.

A lovely nice fresh new set of vocal for the commentary on channel 4 please! There are plenty of mature charismatic commentators out there to put in so we don't have to listen to Ben Edwards and David Croft.

According to Adam Cooper on Twitter, the Channel 4 live races will be: Bahrain, Spain, Europe (Azerbaijan), Britain, Hungary, Belgium, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico and Abu Dhabi.

Isn't Malaysia a bit early in the day to be a sensible live race? Not going to be many channel hoppers at that time on a Sunday morning.
I guess there could be two reasons for picking it,
1.) They were forced to by the pick process remember after 3 each the picks alternate and neither of them is allowed 3 races in a row.
2.) Advertising revenue isn't that much at 8am on a Sunday so they aren't losing out much by running it ad-free but in that case the question is how do they intend to make the contract pay?
I'd have to assume the former is the most likely reason, and they've only got one early race which isn't too bad and they will I assume still have the 'normal F1 time' afternoon re-run where there will probably be a decent audience. They seem to have gone after that 1pm UK timeslot which won't cut into their primetime schedule (baring Mexico) and may not be that lucrative for advertising (however they intend on doing it) with their current programming.

You are launching a brand new F1 broadcaster and you don't show the first race live?

Not an attractive timeslot and they probably had other priorities with their first three picks two of which are already all but locked in (Britain and Abu Dhabi), Sky you would assume then went for Australia, Monaco and one of the primetime races.

That was my first thought, but the BBC didn't show the opener either, so maybe they don't the change of channel a reason to worry. I'm a bit surprised at some of the picks, leaving off Canada for instance is a shame.

I'd guess a high proportion of British based viewers who are prepared to watch the Australian GP live have access to Sky F1.
