These are my ratings for the race

Rosberg - 10/10

Ricciardo - 9/10

Hamilton - 6/10

Raikkonen - 8/10

Vettel - 9/10

Verstappen - 5/10

Alonso - 9/10

Perez - 8/10

Kvyat - 7/10

Magnussen - 9/10

Gutierrez - 7/10

Massa - 5/10

Nasr - 7/10

Sainz - 7/10

Palmer - 4/10

Wehrlein - 7/10

Ericsson - 5/10

Ocon - 5/10

Button - 5/10

Bottas - 5/10

Hulkenberg -5/10

Grosjean - 1/10

agree with your ratings almost in all except one driver...Grosjean 1/10. I am not fan of Grosjean but your rank for him is absolutely ridiculous

Autosport ratings:

Rosberg - 10/10

Hamilton - 6/10

Raikkonen - 9/10

Vettel - 8/10

Verstappen - 7/10

Ricciardo - 10/10

Alonso - 9/10

Button - 7/10

Perez - 8/10

Hulkenberg - 8/10

Kvyat - 7/10

Sainz - 7/10

Magnussen - 9/10

Palmer - 6/10

Gutierrez - 7/10

Grosjean - 4/10

Massa - 5/10

Bottas - 7/10

Nasr - 7/10

Ericsson - 6/10

Wehrlein - 8/10

Ocon - 5/10

autosport "expert" can't stop to worship Verstappen and Sainz and again and again put them higher than they actually deserve. Verstappen finished only  ahead much more slower cars and even Vettel who started 22th could easy beat Max. Why autosport continues spamming overrating points for Verstappen?? Sainz finished 14th and got the same rank as Kvyat??? Button - 7  for what??? Hulk - 8  for what?? sure his crash was  not his fault. but how can you put 8 for driver who even couldn't make one lap in race????

AMuS

  • Nico Rosberg: 10/10
  • Daniel Ricciardo: 9/10
  • Lewis Hamilton: 7/10
  • Kimi Räikkönen: 8/10
  • Sebastian Vettel: 9/10
  • Max Verstappen: 7/10
  • Fernando Alonso: 9/10
  • Sergio Perez: 8/10
  • Daniil Kvyat: 8/10
  • Kevin Magnussen: 9/10
  • Esteban Gutierrez: 7/10
  • Felipe Massa: 6/10
  • Felipe Nasr: 7/10
  • Carlos Sainz: 6/10
  • Jolyon Palmer: 5/10
  • Pascal Wehrlein: 7/10
  • Marcus Ericsson: 6/10
  • Esteban Ocon: 4/10
  • Jenson Button: 5/10
  • Valtteri Bottas: 5/10
  • Nico Hülkenberg: 6/10
  • Romain Grosjean: 7/10

I could live with this, in contrast to Sky but 2 remarks:

*How can you rate Grosjean for not racing at all, bad qualifying and an all-around bad weekend. It might not be his fault, but how can you rate him?

*Perez: Standard qualifying, then messed up with penalties. Invisible race, but hey let's give him an 8. Yeah he managed his tyres, that's why he was invisible and couldn't do anything :stoned:

So you didn't see Perez on TV so you say AMUS should give him a low mark. And he did something he recovered from the back to finish eighth ahead of Kvyat, defending on incredibely worn tyres till the end of the race

In a Force India vs. those teams around him, I wouldn't call that amazing. He gets an 8, which is only 1 point lower than Ricc. who was in the hunt for the win and Vettel who came back from last place

Different cars. Checo isnt driving a red bull or a ferrari. In fact he raced alot with Max despite a much slower car and a much lower grid position

I´d never expect anything like that. Kimi a 9 and Lewis a 6!!

Ben Anderson of Autosport has clearly mixed the results for the two. Or they had some summer intern do them this time. Or it's the first time this season Ben watched the race. Inexplicable nevertheless.

EDIT: Whatever the reason, this mistake bumps Raikkonen ahead of Gutierrez for the season in the Autosport rankings.

I guess it's time for some mid-season rule changes :p

(And no, Hamilton won in 2014 by a mile all driver ratings)

Are you sure? My memory must be going then.

edit: you are correct. Autosport gave him motorsport driver of the year in their top 100 but hamilton had a better average rating.

This British journos approach to Kimi is pretty interesting ... I just finished listening to BBC Five alive chequered flag Singapore review podcast and although there was a lot of true praise on Niko's drive, loads on Ricciardo's drive there were still few comments on potential car issues for Lewis.

But most interestingly they hardly mentioned Kimi's pass on Lewis..

Plenty of talk about Ferrari's strategy mistakes though...

Those guys really don't like Raikkonen. I've been listening to them since pre-season and I don't think I've once heard a nice word said about him.

I have to say I'm normally OK with the ratings Autosport give, I'm suspecting someone was seriously high, drunk or just not actually watching/in attendance in Singapore.  We'll give them a pass on that basis.

I assume the sarcasm is high on your response and you imply someone has been seriously high, drunk or just not actualy watching/attending any of the races. I give you a pass on that basis.

I just listened to the Autosport Singapore Review Podcast... And fell a sleep... Their ratings are at least more entertaining than their analysis...

I have not read F1 racing for a long time (as it is not as hard core as Autosport) and I was pleasantly surprised by their last copy. Good read, seemed more neutral and overall a positive experience...

How can they even rate Vettel? His race lasted 500 meters. He ruined another driver's race and his own race. What led them to the conclusion that his race was worth 5?

Not bad at all. Slightly overrated Button, Hulk and Kvyat and Rosberg is a bit low but otherwise fair

And they managed to rate him higher than some other drivers that didn't finish the race due to car failure rather than their own mistake.   :rotfl:

Yeah but still Sky couldn't resist chipping half a point off Raikkonen compared to other drivers who got an 8  for very similar performances....

Rosberg's score.... well I think if Lewis had come from last on lap 1 to finish on the podium they would be saying 9/10 even accounting for the clumsy overtake.

To be fair, they gave Hamilton an 8 for Spa.

Can Kimi finally overtake Grosjean for 14th in AS standings?

AMuS: Vettel 5 and Gutierrez 4? That is odd, the former battered Rosberg (7 Sky? Really?) and the latter had a rim/disc going AWOL.

I don't gent the N/A for Vettel. If his race didn't even start was not because of a failure in the first lap or similar( as with Grosejan, for example) but because of a driving error that had an impact on another driver's race, To me that's more a 1 or 2 at most. Hamilton also deserves some rating, an 8 or more, ultimately he got the pole, led the race for most of it and had a mechanical problem.

Also, Alonso probably deserves a 10 tbh. I can't imagine what else could he do, but a 9 is fine I guess. Button an 8 is slightly high, he was fine, but didn't had FA pace and ultimately he ended quite where he started, so maybe a 7 would be more fair.

Anyway, these rating are too high overall, there is some sort of bias. All drivers from 6 to 10.

Vettel a 6? That is lenient.

Rosbeg's 7 seems to come from his Raikkonen penalty, while up to then he had a good run back on the podium.

No, they demolished him. Even with good 8s till the end, he'd still finish 13th or something like that. What a joke they are. I hope they have average scores and see their result in the end of the season.

Even though Ric won he has had better weekends.

Expected the british media outlets to quadruple their sympathy on Hamilton and show their wrath on Rosberg. Ratings were quite predictable this race.

I remember seeing somewhere the ratings were done considering the whole weekends performance, not just Sunday's. Max's been the quicker one, no doubt. Didn't put a foot wrong on Sunday either. If not for Vettel he'd have stayed in front of Danny after turn 1 too.

Only qualifying matters, on so many weekends Dan has opened up a gap at the time it mattered.

The qualifying difference in Max's favour here was hardly significant.

And Max got the better strategy - yet Dan still held him off despite the tyre advantage he was handed. It makes no sense to put Max above him.

Being faster hardly matters when you are down on position. I think Dan had pace in reserve as well.

Autosport:

Vettel: 6

Hasn't Räikkönen once gotten a 6 for a podium?

Ricciardo inherited 2nd and later 1st while Verstappen had to fight back to get into position (he was 7th at one point?). If the second VSC was laps later, I don't think Ricciardo would have hold position against Verstappen.

Let's keep that to the relevant topic. Not every thread needs to turn into a Verstappen thread.
