You just pointed out they can give rookie status at their discretion. Is the rookie "title" name only or worth say prize money? If he did lose something then is there an appeal process?
I've criticised them for more serious stuff like driving conduct on track...this is minor in the grand scheme of things.
Sporting regulations say:
6.2 The ADAC Formula 4 Championship best rookie title will be awarded to the driver who has
scored the highest number of points, taking into consideration all the results obtained during
the Events which have actually taken place. Drivers will only be eligible for this title if, prior to
the 01. January 2016, he or she had not competed in any licenced car circuit racing.
Drivers will be considered eligible for this title at the absolute discretion of the ADAC / DMSB.
Organisational regulations say:
5.3 2015 ADAC Formel 4 Rookie Cup
The prizes below shall be awarded in the 2015 Rookie Cup:
1st place in the year-end standings = non-cash prize
2nd place in the year-end standings = non-cash prize
3rd place in the year-end standings = non-cash prize
(both available in English and German on the ADAC site)
The line I've heard is that less than 5 race events on a car track is where their discretion has placed the boundary.
I would suspect in Lando's case, it doesn't matter. He won the MSA championship, he's definitely not cash strapped.
And despite all that, they can't stop me thinking that Floersch is looking like the best rookie in class. 8th overall in the standings and twice as many points as the first "real" rookie after a DNF? She's looked like the real deal ever since the first Ginetta race at Brands Hatch last year, I ain't getting off this bandwagon just yet.
