Simon

thank you,, marvelous.....

The Avusrennen were one of the first race after the World War I, that were drive on a highway and with racingcars.

Why Hans Etzrodt the Avus race of 1921 and 1922 not important find is the list of GP winners, remains for my a mystery.

1922 Avusrennen <> Franz Heim - Heim 2 L 650 kg

1922 Gran Premio d'Italia <> Monza - Franz Heim -  Heim 2 L 650 kg

the same car

1921 Targa Florio - Formula Libre

1921 Cascine - Formule Libre

1921 Mugellio - Formule Libre

1921 Gentleman Brescia - Formule Libre

1921 Montenenero 2 L

1921 Avus

was not a Formule Libre race but 2L 800kg and 2,6L 800 kg  and only for racing cars

I think if the name of the avusrennen was "Grand Prix of Germany"

of if the Avus circuit was is France of Italy

of the F1 was in 2016 also racing on the Berlin / Avus circuit

then the avusrennen of 1921 and 1922 was well important

The Avus races were restricted to German drivers only, since - as a consequence of the Great War - Germany was not at that time represented at the AIACR. While this did not prevent - especially - the Italians extending invitations to German teams in the early 1920s it is likely that foreign drivers would have been (at least) 'discouraged' from competing in Germany by their national clubs. The RACB and ACF were both opposed to the return of Germany to racing and although Germany was readmitted to the AIACR at the end of 1925, no German drivers appeared in the GP de l'ACF until 1931 - although Caracciola had raced in Monaco in 1929 and 1930, joined in the latter year by Burgaller, Arco-Zinneberg and Stuck. The first German entry in the Belgian GP was 1934, although they didn't race there until the next year.
