I have heard through the grapevine that Bourdais will be at Sears Point.....racing.
If that doesn't make the grass green, nothing will!

Just back from IA Speedway... it is going to be hard to watch the last few races this year and look at the present bodywork. The new cars look like a proper racecar. The proportions may be slight off towards the front, but otherwise it is a winner! If you squint, you can see the CART car of old with the good old roll hoop.
JPM had his plain black helmet. They didn't let us too close- just across from the main straight and pit wall so no up close viewing. And they sounded pretty good, especially considering the F1's...
Can't wait for next year- will be there for the PHX race...
(did some videos and pix but don't know how to post anymore since photobucket changed it's tune)

Short oval aero testing. From what Montoya and Servia said, they could do the same lap speeds with this package despite the downforce reduction.
Posted 11 August 2017 - 18:03
Encouraging words from Servia and Montoya. I am sure they couldn't push up super close but they said following wasn't to much of a problem. Car was very neutral following instead of understeer. I think they said something in the Indy Car site about throttle position. Something of the fact they had 80% throttle in the corner with the new car and of course 100% in the old car. Much more driveable car and I think that is what we as fans, and they as drivers are looking for. Show me some throttle control on the ovals.

Good man, glad to hear it and truly hope that is the case! :-)Not racing related other than my passing on continued success for John Andretti's similar cancer treatments. I have only 10 more days of chemo, then scans on the 25th and hopefully the clean slate my oncologist and I are expecting. Thanks for the support from so many here.

Thanks for sharing the encouraging news Brian! Is the chemo daily (M-F)?
It will be fantastic to meet you at full strength at the 500 next year.

I've got to take 3,000-mg per day of a drug called Xeloda, which has been part of the routine from the start. The IV infusions were once every three weeks, followed by two weeks on the Xeloda, which is what I'm finishing up on now. Thanks for sharing the encouraging news Brian! Is the chemo daily (M-F)?

I'm more into Indycar than I have been since the 90's. Have really enjoyed it this year and a lot of the nonsense around F1 these days has probably impacted on this as well.
I could do with watching less motorsport, so for next year, I have pretty much decided to ditch F1 completely. The fact that Indycars are going to look so great is really justifying my decision.

A pity; Aleshin's season hasn't lived up to his potential as a driver. I would have loved to have seen him break out of the rut he's in and regain the form he's shown in previous years.

I've recently been cleared of Non-Hodgekins lymphoma (and a chemo-induced heart attack) which followed on almost immediately from being cleared of prostate cancer, so hope all news is good for you.

Aleshin out for the rest of the season. https://twitter.com/...476404782694400

Indeed. Had high hopes for Aleshin after his runs at Mid-Ohio and Pocono but the gap between him and Hinchcliffe has been huge this year.

I think a certain SPM development driver from Uruguay will be in that seat next year...

Have to admit I don't watch much NASCAR, except when they're on road courses (and then I marvel that those huge heavy monsters can actually turn right) but did watch a bit of the Michigan race on Sunday. Huge props to the Chipster (see Robin Miller's comments at racer.com) for letting Kyle Larson race dirt at Knoxville ( 35 miles from my house in IA, but must admit I've never been to a race there) and then he made the move of the race to win. He says he wants to run the 500 someday. Hope that happens, he'd be fun to watch... can't help but like that kid. Could give Kurt B a run for his money!!
I love it when drivers cross over as it doesn't happen much anymore these days. I remember well going to Road America back in the late 60's and early '70's and you 'd see Sir Jackie, Jo Siffert, etc crossing the pond to race in the Can Am etc.
Would love to see Smoke back in an Indycar, though I'm afraid he wouldn't fit...

Pruatt & Miller are speculating that, if Andetti goes Chevy next year, the second SPM seat will go to Rossi.
Alex ant Hinch, that would be quite a strong lineup!

Except when Indycar and MRTI drivers frequently race in other series

Sounds like it'll be Robert Wickens in Aleshin's seat for the Glen and Sonoma, it just got tweet-teased.

Wickens almost ruled out an IndyCar future, so I see Saavedra or Servià in. But I would like to see Wickens.
Kvyat said he has no interest in IndyCar.

That was before Mercedes decided to quit DTM for next year, leaving Wickens without a ride

He's subbed for them before at Road America practice with the visa issue (it amused me that he was almost stone last, despite the trash talking from some quarters). So a Servia\Wickens combination is not out of the question.

Castrol is a team sponsor, nothing to do with Rossi (they've been there since 2014: http://www.jackhawks...ed/IMG_1294.jpg). Rossi's personal sponsors are stuff like the coffee company.

I don't think there are many objective racing fans out there who are not aware that Montoya has been a classless dick for at least the majority of his career. I bet he still is, but knows that Penske doesn't tolerate that **** for long. He wasn't a fan favorite for his pleasant personality or cutting wit.

I don't think you could get a nicer guy than Craig to be honest, and he was just giving a genuine answer to a question asked.
To go from Touring Cars to racing in F3000 within one year was a huge challenge, and unfortunately for him, it didn't work out. But the man is a legend for everything he has achieved in Supercars, regardless of the fact Montoya was able to beat him in a single seater. For what it is worth, I had been following Montoya's career closely back then since British F3 and was a huge fan. When he got to F3000 his natural talent and car control really shone through. That Craig didn't get near him is no disgrace.
