Technically you are second. Front row of the grid position though, hope you have better starts than Lewis and Mercedes.  :p

it would be if:

Nico takes Lewis out to win WDC

Lewis wins WDC on final race

Lewis has another PU failure while he is leading a race

Nico has PU failure

Nico starts dating Nicole  :p

Well I fancy Lewis for the weekend, I think he has a point to prove and is actually very good on this track

Yes, I associate the Austin circuit almost exclusively with Lewis Hamilton. Good place to start the fightback.

Malaysia was where the fight-back started, then spluttered to a halt. Rosberg has had pole at Austin the past couple of years so isn't going to be beaten easily.

It does not matter how good he is if his start is bad.

That's quite probable... however Nico is long over due for a good result in Texas.  Y'all may be surprised.

Race start will certainly be tense, but it could easily be Nico or neither for a bad start.

Y'all may be surprised about who one of the stewards is for this weekend, I tell you what. The race is also being sponsored by Alamo Beer.

Can't wait to see exactly how badly either guy butchers their start!

For the first time ever, I have almost resigned myself to the title chase being over.

I hope this triggers the F1 gods into a Lewis win and Nico DNF, setting up a showdown over the last 3.

Nico will win or finish off the podium. I believe the former.

Or they collide at T1, because Nico refuses to yield.

For all of the Hamilton association, his only real standout performance here was 2012, along with Vettel and Alonso.

In the last 2 years Rosberg has been very close to winning both races. He dominated Lewis in mixed conditions last year.

Qualifying again will be crucial, and I feel Hamilton was actually the faster of the two last year before the red flag, and it was wet anyway, so hard to discern true pace.

2013? Relative to Nico, he was on another level.

Lewis's performance during the race in 2014 was superb as well. Once they switched to the medium compound, he was far quicker than Nico.

Yea he made a crucial front wing adjustment aswell which gave him crucial time in sector 1 aswell. Actually might watch that race today.

Recently we talked about Hamilton and whether he (doesnt) like his PR duties.

I think this commercial slots in behind his Turkey stunt as his worst PR stunt.

I understand that CMY is what the printer uses, but seeing him splattered - bad enough in itself as it is - in Renault colours was just lolz.

Have they both had a really bad start yet? That would have spiced up a lot of races.

Melbourne was a bit tardy for both. The truly bad starts have been there, Hockenheim, Monza and Suzuka.

ehhh but it was 2013.

I take it back for 2014. Hamilton was superb.

Interestingly Williams is fearing Austin for its bumpy surface (much worse in 2015 than in 2014).

Now if Mark Hughes theory is true that Hamilton struggles this year on bumpy heavy braking zones he could well be on the backfoot a bit (granted, the braking zones are not as heavy as elsewhere and maybe these parts not even bumpy itself)

So I guess by that logic he is long overdue a world championship too then?

It's the same with reliability. Frustratingly fans seem to think a particular driver is due bad luck.

True but Hamilton has won at Austin in the past couple of years

My iPad crapped itself trying to play that. Not that I really needed to see it because it's seared into my heart and brain but I figured I'd take a trip down memory lane. I guess some devices just can't deal.

Man - that was awesome.  His stability on the descent was incredible.    I think only Howard Stern as "Fartman" comes close.

It takes 2 to tango, so in that scenario presumably Hamilton also refused to yield.

see i told you toto and lauda couldnt be trusted.

theyve been lying regulary this season.

i mean remember they kept telling us nico had exactly the same mechanical issues as lewis, eventhough lewis was the only driver clearly affected.

then when nico was asked about it,he said he had no problems, his car was fine.then after speaking to toto and lauda, nico would change his story, and say'yeah i remember,i did have this problem or that problem.

remember lauda told us lewis smashed up his room, then we found out it probably wasnt true.

then theres the fact toto and lauda have been very reluctant to blame nico for anything, whereas theyve been quick to throw lewis under the bus quite a few times this season.

then theres the questionable strategies lewis has been given far too often this season, and '''accidentally''' entering the wrong setting into his car in baku.

Apparently - after winning the WCC - Wolff has lifted the Rules of Engagement (introduced post-Spielberg), so they are allowed to collide again in the remaining races...

A bit late for that seeing as Nico doesn't have to fight Lewis at all now.

Maybe Mercedes intentionally sabotaged the clutches to keep them from fighting each other... Tin foil hat on

Source please

Saw that this morning at the airport in Bild. Is online behind a pay wall.

Edit: Here you go

http://www.f1-fansit...-drivers-title/

The German newspaper Bild said that with the constructors' championship now wrapped up, team boss Toto Wolff has given the green light to Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton.

Previously, there has been talk of rules of engagement that are so lengthy they have been referred to as 'The Bible'.

But Wolff is now quoted as saying: "There are no team orders and no limitations. May the better one win."

Nice one from Lauda here too: I mean it's not like we figured this one a long time ago out...

"If nothing goes wrong in Nico's car, Lewis will not be able to do it this season," the F1 legend told Sport Bild.

"There are years that just don't work for you, and Lewis seems to have caught such a year," Lauda added.

Maybe Mercedes intentionally sabotaged the clutches to keep them from fighting each other... Tin foil hat on

Sounds reasonable

In this week's F1 report, Maurice Hamilton and Marc Priestly compared mental state of Lewis and Nico.

Easier said than done. Hamilton knows how to collide and come off best/avoid penalties, Rosberg really doesn't at all.
