Sad news from Scotland. The legendary photography, journalist and artist Bill Henderson has passed away at the age of 92.

 

Bill was on the original staff of Autosport when it launched in 1950 and was still active up until 2014 in photographing events in Scotland. I met him first when I started photographing hillclimbs for Autosport and his help on my first 'official' visit to Doune was invaluable. He was a true enthusiast and loved a natter trackside - I will miss my friend and still find it difficult to come to terms with.

We have covered his work here in the past, to much appreciation. The Bill Henderson Collection website is always a delight to revisit.
My sympathies to his family and friends for the loss of a talented, and clearly loved man.

Very sorry you lost your friend, Steve.

Bill and I shared a few emails maybe three years ago, just a couple shooters talking shop and the good, old days gone by. By his words, I had no idea he was anywhere near 90, he was sharp as a tack. And obviously was a fine artist of the old traditions.
