Surprised this hasn't been posted already, but Bud Moore -- NASCAR Hall of Famer, championship- and Daytona 500-winning car owner and chief mechanic, SCCA Trans-Am championship-winning owner and decorated World War II veteran --  has passed away, age 92. RIP, Mr. Moore, was always a fan of your No. 15 Fords in NASCAR and, in retrospect, the bright orange Ford Mustangs of Parnelli Jones and George Follmer circa 1969-70.

Truly a legendary figure in American racing.

One of the best Bud Moore stories is the one about Peter Revson during the 1967 Trans-Am season when he drove Mercury Cougars for Moore.  Moore was in the habit of transporting the cars on what appeared to be old worn out tires that would be changed after tech inspection and weighing in.  Revson got to his car, by then on qualifying tires and, wanting to be helpful, tried to pick up one of the removed junk tires and get it out of the way.  He was unable to lift it of the ground, and caught the eye of one of the mechanics who told him to stick to driving; they'd do the clean-up.
