As much as I love the simplistic cars of the earlier days of F1, I will always love the FW14B.

The A2, and the best-looking GP car of all time, are proof positive that the adage "if it looks right, it is right" is a load of old sloblock.

One of the greatest drivers in one of the most beautiful cars
This, without a doubt.

I wonder why that was the only race that they painted the numbers on the nose? Usually they were on the front wing flaps. One of the greatest drivers in one of the most beautiful cars

The most beautiful three Formula One cars of all time: Maserati 250F chassis number 2527, Maserati 250F chassis number 2528, and Maserati 250F chassis number 2529 (shown here).

There is a very special purity in the lines of 1989-1991 F1 cars that i love. But you can copy the pic from the link i enclosed if you have a hard time to decide... The file is to big to publish here but is a must for every F1 fan.

You can't see the extra winglets from side pictures, some of recent cars don't look nearly as bad in side picture as they look in a picture from angle. I can't decide which is prettiest but I'd say that something between 1990 and today that doesn't have extra stuff braking its form.

Ferrari 412T2 (1995)
And this year's toro rosso is quite stunning as well:
Posted 31 December 2017 - 15:40
The classic choices:
Ferrari 156
Eagle Weslake
Lotus 79
Babham BT52
Ferrari 641
Jordan 191
Ferrari 412T2
I'd include a few others less often mentioned but just as deserving:
Mclaren MP4/1
Ferrari 126C2
Lotus 97T
Brabham BT56
March 881
Simtek S941 (and the closely related Andrea Moda s921)
Jordan 192
There are also a few that are more of an acquired taste, but I like
Arrows A2
Lotus 80
Babham BT46
Benetton B189
Tyrell 019
Your mileage may vary.
Ground effect cars look best. The last beautiful cars were the 90s atmo cars. Can't think of many cars over the last few years which haven't looked awful. Last year's Merc and the Lotus E23 were less bad than some, but the bar is very low now.

Oh and the whole high nose thing ruined F1 car aesthetics for 20 years. Tyrell 018 notwithstanding.

Clean lines, well proportioned, simple and smart livery.
Personally I don't think the BT52 was beautiful. Purposeful, aggressive and distinctive, but not beautiful.
As ever, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Too true. The lines and livery are just so clear and uncluttered.
Most of the cars from the late 60's would probably fill most of my list but I always had a soft spot for the Brabham.

If one should pick a Renault from that era, my favourite would be the pre-season testing R27:

I'd go with the 643 for it's pure sexiness and the Mclaren MP4-8 for it's simplicity - I would add the 92 Williams in there for the same reason as the McLaren as well.
Posted 31 December 2017 - 19:00
Apart from personal preferences, I'd say the Ferrari 641 trumps any other car, since it's the only one (?) in a non-automotive museum.
