Very sad.

His last tweet was just over seven hours ago and full of enthusiasm as usual.

I remember as a kid seeing his appearance as a competitor on TV’s You Bet, challenged to name the winner of every Grand Prix.

He had young children himself, tragic news.

Yes just heard this. I've exchanged a few FB and Tweets with him, seemed a lovely guy. Literally, tragic. Thoughts with his family this evening.

Terrible, terrible news.
I do remember the You Bet episode but the abiding memory of HHF's knowledge and enthusiasm was at the Grand Prix Masters media day in 2006. Murray Walker asked a trivia question to the press which saw HHF answer immediately, to no-one's great surprise. Then Muzza asked a 2nd question but said to HHF that he was not to answer it and give someone else a chance! Poor old Henry was busting to answer it but took it in the good spirit I always came across when seeing him.

We've lost, in my opinion, the future doyen of motorsport; the future DCN or Jenks but HHF was very much a legend now.
A brilliant writer, great interviewer, terrific researcher and a superb enthusiast.

As a father of 3 young children (like HHF) I can only imagine their devastation at their loss of their father who was immensely proud of his three boys.

RIP

How terribly sad.  Although I never met the man I really enjoyed his remarkable work on the live streams of Revival.  He will truly be missed.

Oh Lord. I interviewed HHF last year for my book and he couldn't have been more helpful and enthusiastic. An excellent commentator with a long career in front of him. When I see TNF posts saying RIP,  in nearly every case it's somebody who has had a long life, and whilst we go through the ritual of marking somebody's death nobody was surprised that the likes of Gurney or Surtees proved to be as mortal as the rest of us . This is different . HHF was not even middle aged and I really am shocked .

What dreadful news.

Passion, enthusiasm, knowledge were his trademarks, #fever indeed.

One of the truly good guys who has been taken from us far too soon.

Sincere condolences to his family.

Rest in Peace Henry.

Dreadful news.......RIP, and my thoughts are with his family.

He was so much a part of Goodwood that I'm not sure I feel like going there now; so enthusiastic and professional, and although I'd never met him he was pleasant and helpful of Twitter etc.

#fever for ever

Very sad.  He was part of the Goodwood experience for me both at the circuit and on the livestream, as someone in the RC thread also commented.  I wonder how Goodwood will manage finding a replacement at short notice for the Member's Meeting?

I can only echo what’s already been said. Henry had an excellent delivery, a lovely blend of knowledge and enthusiasm. Plus admiration for past greats akin to any TNFer. I’d taken for granted that he’d be around for years, sadly not.

Just a few days short of a year ago I enjoyed reading his appreciation of the then recently departed John Surtees. https://www.goodwood...n-appreciation/

Henry was one of the most knowledgeable and naturally engaging people I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I certainly never got to know him well - because our paths seldom actually coincided - but this is a truly terrible loss.  The first I knew of it was when I received an e-mail at dawn today from a mutual friend in California, hoping I could tell him the story wasn't true.  Tragically - it was.  And almost to make it even worse I understand he was a careful motor-cyclist too...

Most sincere condolences to his poor wife, children and wider family and friends...and of course to our many colleagues at Goodwood, many of whom knew Henry infinitely better than I.

There's now a Crodwfunding page been set up to help HHF's family, if anyone might like to contribute:

Remarkably, around 15 minutes ago the Crowdfunding reached 100% but is still ongoing, please try and give a little something for the family. Thank you!

Indeed hard to believe and a tragic loss with so much life in front of him.
