:( We have to pay for the new version of the Atlas F1 page,
a little bit too expensive I think.

Whats this about 10 cents a day??!! Atlas F1 I hope youre not digging your own grave..........guess youre kicking us all out....goodbye.

ps 2 well-written articles is better than 10 average articles. We dont need 10 articles, go back to the old ways and bin this subscription idea.

I'm really not happy about this .... because its annoying to have to pay for all the site's I visit, and also I'm not really sure if AtlasF1 is being arrogant or they just aren't getting enough cash flow from their banner ads.

:(

I visit this place for the forums, but I can get my news elsewhere.

I'm still not sure what exactly is being "delivered" but $36 a year? You can pay for that with spare change.

try and put this in perspective.

Where does it say about 10c per day?

Gareth

Ok, silly question, my browser hadn't refreshed the front page. Bit of a confrontational way to do it Atlas. This must have been in the pipeline for a while, you could've informed us. As to whether I'll pay, hmmm probably.

Ahwell it looks like I am going to have to move to formula1.com as I am not going to pay for the service. Such a shame as it was a very good news service. I think concidering that AtlasF1 has just got a new sponser ( see the logo ) that it is outrage that we have to pay. Atlas seemed to give the impression that they didn't agree with F1 tv coverage going PPV but are happy to change their news service to the same.

I have come to AtlasF1 almost daily sence I found the site in 1996 and I will still come here now even if I will have to pay for it witch I intend to do. I think that the articles and news that Atlas has is always of the best quality.

I gotta agree, I think it sucks. As a university student I feel more inclined to spend that 10 cents/day on FOOD or BOOKS or RENT. I think this is the stupidest thing to ever happen to AtlasF1.

... And since I suspect most people are disgusted w/ this move, this is probably R.I.P. for AtlasF1. It's too bad you can't find the advertising revenue to continue this site. The internet is in a big bind right now, as banners dont really provide a lot of exposure (people dont care about them more and more).

Take care AtlasF1 .. you were my homepage for nearly a year.

I paid, and I don't mind doing so. I have long been an advocate of trying to help freesites by regularly clicking on banner ads, and trying to purchase goods and services from advertisers, making sure to mention I saw an ad at Atlas, or whichever site.

I hope that this doesn't turn folks off, though. I am sure it was a tough decision for Paul to make. I find it odd that wasn't much warning, or maybe I somehow missed it.

Well , I have stumped up the 36 quid and I tink it's worth it - hope we don't lose too many people (that's enough sucking up, can I have a further discount please?). Am I the only one who did not realise that this was happening?

Looks like it's only you and me Schumic.

Funny, because I'm absolutely flat broke right now. Maybe it's "spare change" for people who are working fulltime, but this is death for students.

The thing is we dont bloody need 3 atlasf1 reporters at each race, a daily grapevine, elswhere in racing, or all the other crap articles that have come up during the past year.....all we need is a race preview and review, news, and a couple of articles....just like the old days.....when it was free.

A lot of BB posters, myslef included, cut and paste sections of articles from AtlasF1 into BB posts, as a point of discussion or to back up a point of view. Will this be frowned upon, or considered out of bounds with the new format?

I know it is against my usual motto (It is better to beg forgiveness than ask permission), But I really thought it would be good to set a policy up front for us regular posters.....

Thanks!

I would not recommend the f1 forum that ITV offer. I went there once and there seems to be a lot of strange people on that.

Is it just the news that's PPV? Aren't the BBs still free?

I wish we'd have had a bit more warning, rather than this being sprung upon us. Not a good way to run a business or engender customer loyalty.

I don't really know AtlasF1's history .. but my guess is they are suffering a fate to similar to other websites. They start getting a lot of traffic, they hire more staff .. and suddenly their banners arent really getting a lot of clicks (i mean, there are thousands of F1 pages out there) .. now they have bills to pay (employees, server bandwidth) .

I hope we won't have to pay for this BB either! This would be the end!:(

I still consider subscribing though, quality over quantity, but it is still a bit sad that they started to charge without giving a notice

My 2 cents [or should that be 10 cents? :)] is that while free is [from my point of view] better than paying but I think the era of the net as a paid for just by adverts is coming to and end. There will always be the "amature" sites that are free but more and more "professional" site will required cash. However, if I've got one issue with the Atlas system it seems that it is 100% pay. Personally I belive there should be at least one free article and news item at any one particle time to tempt people. I know the quality of the site as I've read it for a long time but I don't believe that somebody who is visiting for the first time is going to be tempted by just the front page.

f1-live is pretty good ... but they have more articles than I can really stand.

AtlasF1 was getting to be the same way .....
they'd have the Press Conference ...... and then they'd have an article based on the quotes of each drivers words for a seperate article.

F1-live has some outstanding photos tho .... large ones too, AtlasF1's were barely bigger than the Sutton images.
