Is it just me or does there seem to be a large increase in the number of new members to the BB? If there is - its great news for Atlas in that the site is still atracting new members - who may eventually become subscribers too.

gerry it appears that quite a few people who have only been reading the site previously have decided now that subscription is here that they will make the most of the BB as well

The increase I guess it because when AtlasF1 was rumored to become pay-per-view and also when it did become pay-per-view: I'd say every major F1 news website had a topic on it - imagine how much advertsiement that was, everyother competitor had a hot topic on AtlasF1 on it, in it's forums...

Thats what made me join the Atlas forum, well I new AtlasF1 existed but never really took notice of it.

I don't know about new members, but it seems to me that this place has had a LARGE reduction in posting since the pay-per-view. It has really seemed dead in here since then. What do you think?

yeah, the RC is kinda lifeless except on Gp weekends when there is a burst os posting.

The same cannot be said about the paddock Club though.

There, there are about 20 members who add posts regulary.
Another 20 who add posts often .

And a lot of people who post in there now and again. if anything its more vibrant than ever. As is the tech forum.

I cant say Ive detected any significant change in posting rates in rc.. I think it may be in your imagination perhaps. certainly if there is a drop its a smallish one.

The reasons i say this are:

a.) Ive noticed a large decrease in posts in the RC forum
b.) noticed more new member names
c.) noticed more repeat threads and driver bashing threads

However. yes the Paddock club seems as good as ever. i personally have been posting alot mor in there too.

I have also noted a few things

1. Most top 50 members do the bulk of their posting in the paddock Club.

2. New members Stick to the RC.

3. Nostalgia seems to have its own members all together.

ali, the disconnection of the paddock club from the rc is something thats often been discussed in the paddock club, though commenting on it there recieved a rather dismissive not to say sneering response. this probably explains why in general, newer members dont feel drawn there.

on driver bashing.. I dont agree at all, it seems at perhaps an all time low in rc. there were times when it got quite excessive.

New members aren't allowed in the paddock club, which would explain why they never post there. :)

I agree with you all of what you said.

Haven't really had a good Driver bashing debate in RC for a couple of months now. I remember a JV one about 2 maybe three months went for days and several pages.

As for paddock club I haven't had time to be in there very often lately, will for the next couple of months though.

But I will say one thing though there seems to be missing a few of the better, or flaim baiting, posters from RC. A couple off the top of my head are RainbowTrout and Schumigirl. Wonder what happened to them (well Schumigirl might have just had exams a gone home for a holiday).

Didn't Bira promise to keep up informed on subscription rates when Atlas went to the subscription model? Or am I mistaken?

Depend which forum you're into gerry. I have noticed more new members in the RC but not so many in PC (which seems to me to have suffered a bit in terms of "new posts"). In terms of "bashing" I have not noticed any decrease at all which is one reason why I tend to lurk more than post - people tend to be so biased in their opinions that it just degenerates into mudslinging althought there are a few people who can take an informed opinion.
If you've noticed a decrease it may be due to it being summer in the Northern Hemisphere where the majority of members are - people are outside more and also exams and holidays tend to be taken at this time of year.

Im a "new member" though I don't like that AtlasF1 subtitle. It suggests recent implants of some sort.

True. Ive noticed fewer new threads in the PC. I suppose its winter here so ive increased my posting (and lurking) and probably notice lest posts because im here more often as opposed to when i used to visit less often and find pages of threads i hadnt read yet

When talking about posting stats on Readers Comments, you may also want to take into consideration the utter boredom F1 is nowadays, and the lack of topics to discuss. The Atlas F1 chat room, for example, has never been more alive than nowadays - and we hardly talk about F1. Instead, we're all playing bowling -- a true sign of people being bored :)

Anyways, Bulletin Board stats:

March-April, being the start of the season, are ALWAYS the busiest and most active - it's been like that every year (sadly I don't have stats from before June 2000, because we had the old BB back then). So I would say all things considered, the above stats look rather normal, even better than you'd expect all things considered.

For the heck of it, I had a look at the number of threads that have been active in the past 24 hours in the English Forum of DailyF1 (I would assume they are our primary competition in forums, cosidering the moving inbetween of memebers). They have there 36 threads that have been active in the past 24 hours. Here, in Readers Comments alone, there have been 57 -- some 60% more activity.

As far as the overall site goes, we currenly have a little under 3,000 subscribers; there have been a drop of 50% in pageviews (impressions) from April, and a drop of 60% in unique hosts (visitors) at the same time.

Bira,

Have you checked on the French forum on Dailyf1 lately??,
There is a 7000 posts thread there. I donĀ“t speak french but amazes me that kind of number talking about Alesi.

BTW, which is Atlasf1 record in posts by thread?

I miss the threads that mostly contained photos with one-liner posts. It was like speed posting to see who had the quickest wit.

Bira, do these numbers fit with your current business plan? Or are they above or below what you would have expected?
