As a sure sign of old age, when I saw the title of this thread the first thing that leaped into my mind was sports cars at Laguna Seca.... and then not realizing that F1 probably had a race with that name when I saw the content.....

It made me think of the Formula One race at the TI Circuit in Aida Japan. 1995 I think...

Yes, it's one of those trick questions - which is the only F1 team to have competed in a World Championship race bearing its own name?

If it is the Grand Prix (not the Team) you are after then you can check the info on Forix. The GP was run in both 1994 and 1995.
I realy like the first part of this track when driving the track in a game, fast corners.

The race was won by Schumacher. In the first corner Häkkinen hit Larini (driving for Ferrari as Alesi was hurt) and Larini then hit Senna and both of them was out of the race after the first corner. Barrichello took his first podium finish, Verstappen spun when exiting the pits, Hill lost his front wing when trying to lap or overtake a driver (Häkkinen?). This is all I can remember from this GP.

Ahh, the circuit were Jan Magnussen debuted when Hakkinen was ill. Jan finished right on teammate Blundell's tail, after having hunted him down. It was clear that Jan could have passed, but didn't wan't to take the risk of seing 2 McLarens in the gravel. A great debut for a great racer!

Guess you missunderstood me. I didn't really mean the team Pacific Grand Prix Ltd, but the Grand Prix called the Pacific Grand Prix in 1994 driven at the TIAida-circuit in Japan.

If you've got any photos from that Grand Prix, feel free to either post them at this site, or send them to me at peron_f1@hotmail.com

This seems as appropriate a place as any. I've been reading about the Pacific Grand Prix at Laguna Seca. I've found results covering 1960 to 1963 but have a feeling that this is not the complete picture. Were there any Pacific GPs before or after this period?

I'm pretty sure not
The big Laguna Seca race in 1964 was called the Monterey Grand Prix

Ah, I see.

Was just interested because yesterday I'd read a little snippet about Moss winning in '61. I didn't know about the Pacific Grand Prix so I thought I'd go online and see what I could find out :)

For the record, earlier this year I asked an Italian colleague (now ex-colleague) about the translation of his name. I'd read it meant washing machine, but he confirmed that Lavaggi is the present participle of the verb "to wash", thus making him "Johnny Wash". :stoned:

Old one and no real answer. Actually, Hakkinen rammed Senna out of the way and Larini then hit Senna... it was the moment Ayrton had the time to check the way the Benetton was moving around the corners. Schumacher won both editions, in 1994 and 1995. Details on Wikipedia.
Also, browse this gallery for some images from Aida 1994.
