I'm looking for information on the 1978 F Atlantic race that was held a few weeks
before the inaugural Canadian GP on Ile Nôtre-Dame.
As some of you remember, this event was held to satisfy the governing body's
wish to homologate the race track.

I'm looking for the entry list, qualifying & race result.

Also, is it true that GV took part in this event ?

Can anyone provide me with some info ?

Thanks.

Sep 24, won by Jeff Wood (March/Ford 78B), no more info. Don't think GV ran there.

Cheesy Poofs, I was wondering exactly the same thing! I guess you went to the Canadian GP too, because the only time I've ever seen written that GV took part in that race was in this year's Canadian GP program (in an article by Pierre Lecours).

I guess I wasn't the only one to say "Huh???"...

PS: I don't know if you saw it, but it wasn't the only error in the program, far from it. In the GP Quizz, it's stated that Jackie Stewart won in 1970 at Tremblant.

That must have been news to Jacky Ickx!:rolleyes::drunk::stoned:

My guess is the confusion lies here... at the 1978 Canadian GP at Montreal, Gilles' brother Jacques competed in [and won IIRC] a Formula Ford race on that weekend's Saturday.

Also IIRC, it seems he was driving a Crossle 32F, decorated in red as was his brother's car that had 8 more cylinders. :)

 Thanks for the results, sramoa, lots of fun to see and reminisce!

And with apologies, an utterly-OT Sidebar... Price Cobb was bloody staggering in an Atlantic car... and both the funniest and worst golfer I ever played with. :)
