Onto Group 6.

The four drivers up for consideration in this group are as follows;

1.Jim Clark
2.Innes Ireland
3.Jackie Oliver
4.Jody Sheckter

This is a very clear cut group and I think the winner is easy to predict at this point. Does anyone think Jody Scheckter could take the fight to the "Prince of Speed"? Or how about the man who he replaced at Lotus, fellow Scot Innes Ireland, then of course what about the man who replaced Clark himself, the talented Jackie Oliver? Two outside bets in my opinion, but what about yours?

O.K, we all know who will win this one... So I gave my vote to other great driver, in hope it will help one of most underestimated World Champions ever to squeeze into second round. Go, Jody, go! (as heard Chuck Berry singing on a gramophone with very lousy speakers...)

A bit unfair on the others, to be in a group with Jimmy Clark. Perhaps there should be some "seeding" for the great drivers - Fangio, Clark, Senna etc - who can then miss these preliminary rounds?

I was voting for a driver who should also go into the second round... AFAIK, two drivers progress, and Jimmy will get his due 1st spot, even if I vote for Innes. (consider it runner-up vote by yours trully)

Regarding this no contest, it’s interesting to compare Innes’s record against Jim Clark in Team Lotus.

They raced each other 23 times in F1, Innes winning 4, with 3 seconds and a third against Jim’s one second and two thirds.

This wasn't a case of an experienced driver versus a newcomer. Innes only had a season or so more experience than his younger compatriot, since unlike some of the top British drivers of his generation he had lost a couple of years to military service.

It’s also interesting to note that Innes’s last four finishes for Lotus were 3 wins and a second.
