Apologies to those who have seen this picture before, but we have some very knowledgeable newish members who might provide an answer this time.
So, does anyone know the name of the man in the Iron March?
Who is this mechanic?

Barry, I should be seeing Pete Kerr (1st March employee) in the next few weeks, he may be able to shed some light on this!

I am reluctant to get into a multi-Kiwi argument here, but Four Guys and a Telephone by Mike Lawrence says it was Bill Stone and so, IIRC, does Bill Stone. Who (apart from Pete Kerr) says it was Pete Kerr?

Like David I always believed that Bill Stone was the first March employee but the other March book written by Alan Henry seems to back up Gary.
"The four March directors had strictly divided areas of responsibility...... Backing them up were three key technicians. They were Pete Kerr, formerly Rindt's machanic at Winkelmann Racing, John Thompson, who had done all the sheet metal work on Herd's Cosworth and McLaren designs, and Ray Wardell, previously responsible for Church Farm Racing's semi-works McLaren...."

thanks Milan! I've been wracking my brains for half an hour trying to remember just where I'd read it before I actually spoke to Pete! I think we'll have to leave it as a draw??
