It's November again, and that means that we have no F1 to watch.
So why not take a look into the future instead?
And make a little competition out of it?
I can hear you all saying "Yes! Great idea Mak!" now :D

Oh golly, this sounds exciting! How do I enter?
You just post a reply to this thread with what you think will be the driving pairings that each of the at most twelve teams will present for the first GP of 2004!
Please try to be clear about the drivers' names; I might not have heard of some rookies that you have listed, so a full name for new drivers (and other drivers that are easy to mix up otherwise too) would be appreciated. You don't have to list more teams than you think that there will be around in 2004.

I want points! There's no point in having a competition if you don't score points!
-You will score five points for each driver that you have put in the right team.
-If a driver you have listed in one team drives for another one, you will score two points for him/her.
-If a driver that you have listed won't be driving for any team, you will score 0 points for that driver, unless the driver in question would have raced for some team but is "temporarily unavailable" due to injury or ban.
-If you happen to put the same driver in several teams, you will only score points for the best guess of those.
-If you don't list twelve teams, you will score points for the missing seats if there aren't twelve teams around in 2004. Five points/driver if the team you left out is missing, two points/driver if there's another team missing.
-You can also guess for an UNKNOWN driver (with no given name) taking a seat in a team. The meaning of "unknown" here is that the driver hasn't been mentioned in any other entry for this competition. The unknown driver can only give you points if he/she is in that very team where you have guessed for an unknown.

Are there any awards?
Eternal glory and bragging rights if you manage to beat someone.
Also note that this competition is nowhere near being included in any silly Supercup thingy...

When is the deadline?
In order to get the entries within a reasonably short time span, the competition is open for entries and edits approximately until November ends, CET.

And here are my guesses:

Ferrari: M Schumacher Barrichello

Williams: Montoya Villeneuve

McLaren: Räikkönen	Coulthard

Renault: Trulli Alonso

Sauber: Heidfeld Heikki Kovalainen

Jordan: Fisichella Massa

BAR: Button Justin Wilson

Jaguar: Webber Ralf Schumacher

Minardi: Verstappen Björn Wirdheim

Toyota: Panis Sato

A few wild guesses and a whole lot of wishful thinking for sure! Though I assume Arrows won't be around anymore :

A note for those who entered the 2003 competition: I'm terribly sorry that the results aren't up yet, but it appears that the first race of 2003 will not be run in over four months yet! Those lazy bastards in F1 :(

What the hell, why not ....

Ferrari: M Schumacher Barrichello
Williams: Montoya Ralf Schumacher
McLaren: Räikkönen Heidfeld
Renault: Trulli Alonso
Sauber: Massa Some 21 year old from Latvia
Jordan: Fisichella Sato
BAR: Button Justin Wilson
Jaguar: Webber Pizzonia
Minardi: Verstappen Enrique Bernoldi
Toyota: Panis Villeneuve

And yeah, Ferrari will be having three wheels as the whole ballast thing fell through this year.

I strongly protest. KinetiK has placed three drivers in the teams instead of pairings. We need a clarification of the rules from FIA.

I believe the Concorde agreement states that if there are less than nine teams, the remaining teams are obligated to produce three racing entries. The protest is null & void as I am clearly following the letter of the rules, you can take the spirit and mix it with some Coca Cola if you'd like! ;)

I actually didn't even read the opening post in this thread, I merely followed the link from RC (the new drivers' one) and started my post. i'll alter it to suit the rules later today.

Even though Jordan and Minardi will be gone leaving the remaining teams to provide three drives each? ;)

OK then KinetiK, let's say that you get ten bonus points if there are three-car-teams (fewer than nine) in 2004! But I still just want two driver guesses/team. Unless you edit your entry I'll just pick the first two for each team.

MORE ENTRIES PLEASE!

ok ok, the pressure is unyielding so I'll make a new selection (but I'm keeping my nine team/three driver selection up there). I'll assume that none of the teams will fold with the exception of Arrows.

Ferrari: M Schumacher & F Massa
Williams: JP Montoya & B Junquiera
McLaren: K.Räikkönen & G Fisichella
Renault: J Trulli & F Alonso
Volkswagon Sauber: R Schumacher & A Pizzonia
BAR: J Button & A Davidson
Jaguar: D Coulthard & M. Webber
Toyota: R Barrichello & C. da Matta
Jordan: N Heidfeld & S Bourdais
Minardi: R Kerr & A Yoong (after winning the CART championship he only has to come up with 80% of the money he had to in 2002)

You'll note my exclusion of Jacques as he'll win Le Mans in 2005 becoming that only guy who... yadda yadda yadda.

I think next season will either be about major shifts  or hardly any shifts at all... :| Here's my guess in the first case, which is, of course, the most spectacular  :

Ferrari : Michael Schumacher + Rubens Barrichello
McLaren : Kimi Räikkönen + Nick Heidfeld (or maybe they'll keep DC)
Williams : Juan Pablo Montoya + Giancarlo Fisichella (or maybe they'll keep RS)
Renault : Jarno Trulli + Fernando Alonso
B·A·R : Jenson Button + Takuma Sato (or maybe they'll keep JVi)
Jordan : David Coulthard + Ralph Firman (or maybe they'll keep GF)
Jaguar : Mark Webber + Ralf Schumacher
Sauber : Neel Jani + Felipe Massa
Toyota : Olivier Panis + Cristiano da Matta
Minardi : Jos Verstappen + Christijan Albers *

(* = with money from Trust and engines from Mercedes  )

Alwrite. Seems like I'm going to have quite a poor result in this game too, unless some very exceptional happens. Whatever, November 2003 starts day after tomorrow.

Makarias, are we going to have
The 2005 Silly Season Trophy
anytime soon?
