For those lucky enough to live in the UK and have MOTORS-TV on satellite, they are showing the complete set of 'Motors Legends' F1 highlight programmes this weekend...

Saturday 25th

3pm 1973 season review
4pm 1974 season review
5pm 1975 season review
6pm 1976 season review
7pm 1 hour 'in-car' special

Sunday 26th

3pm 1977 season review
4pm 1978 season review
5pm 1979 season review
6pm 1980 season review
7pm 1 hour 'in-car' special

Obviously each programme lasts for 1 hour and I can recommend them for the great images (if not for the commentary).

Enjoy

Thanks Rob! Great! Especially the reviews from 79-80... IMO the in-car specials got the same shots as murray walkers "lap of gods"!?

Thanks god that I can switch from french to english commentary (wasn't possible with the crappy premiere d-box-software);)

BTW: You don't have to live in the UK to get MotorsTV ;)

I just had a look at the website:

http://www.motorstv...._act=1043449200

These f1 reviews are no listed - or do you mean another sat channel also called MotorsTV?

Lutz

I think there is only one MotorsTV  .

I receive the channel via the Sky satellite (in the UK). SkyTV provide a listing service for programmes in the next 7 days, and it was from this that I extracted the times. I have not checked the website, but the Sky guide is normally accurate.

Whilst we are on the topic of Motors TV (thanks for those times Rob  ), who on EARTH employed that American guy? Does anyone even know who he is? He has a habit of making even the most enthralling documentary almost unbearable.

Ok - now I'm seeing it - looked on the "wrong end" (thought it's in the middle of the night)

Am I right in thing that these season reviews are the same as the versions that are available on video?

The reviews are not the 'Duke' or FIA official videos, but are produced by a French broadcaster (who's name I can't remember  ). There is quite a lot of good footage that I had not seen before they were first shown last summer...

The MotorsTV footage is *not* Brunswick Films (thanks god) - they reminded me always on super 8 holiday movies, btw ;) As Gary C wrote - this footage is from elf. Especially the review from '74 is great - just look at the picture quality of the beautiful BRM shots  ). Good to know that there is good quality footage around from the 70's. Now I've got to go to get video tapes for later ;)

Five hours of pure nostalgia complete and five more tomorrow  . If only Max and Bernie could give so much pleasure over an F1 weekend.

One word of criticism.. was anyone else disappointed at the final hour of 'on board' coverage? The pictures were good, but the constant drone of the English over-dubbing meant that I did not hear a single F1 engine in the whole hour   . What made it worse was that Tambay had nothing interesting to say or translate!!

"This corner goes left".. "This is the hairpin".. "Depailler was killed here"… "de Angelis crashed and died here". I would have preferred the sound of a 1.5 turbo or the old faithful DFV.

I suppose 4 hours out of 5 ain't bad  .

Carlton Kirby body count:

Paise for Carlos Pace
What he called Montjuich Park?..."Mon tech"?
Peddersen for Ronnie...
I gave up about 1/2hr. in

Was he was reading a script and was not privy to the video...RIGHT?
un****ingbelievable

All I would have liked to have heard was the right name, timed with when they were on screen.

Easy right ?

... and if I heard it right, he had the 1973 Brazilian GP over a distance of 7000+ kms!

(The constant reference to "Peddersen" was annoying me too!)

At least Martin Haven was there later on...
