There has been a lot of rumor over the past year that Mike Hiss - 1972 Indy 500 Rookie of the Year, 1974 front row starter, 1978 sub for Mario Andretti, ex-husband of the first female Indycar driver and former Playgirl magazine subject - had recently passed away. The last he had surfaced publically was during one of ESPN Speedweek's "where are they now" shows circa 1994, which stated he was now in the software biz in Silicon Valley and had successfully fought cancer. Can anyone finally confirm or deny this?

Thanks, Graham, glad to read your link. I liked Hiss as a kid, he was sort of a Mr. Clean like Sneva and Mears, preceding the former by one season with the same Norton livery.As of 2010, Mike Hiss is still alive, although suffering the effects of lymphoma:
