On the basis that the car is Stans’s, rather than the bloke kitted up, it may be MkV/41/51 ex-Patterson/Hawkes

These were not unknown in the day...

 

I know I've seen other pics with them on suspension members. These are on the leaf springs, of course.

I'm sure if we had a larger population a quality book would by now have been written on Stan,Doug,Reg Hunt and others of that period .

 

For me one of the better areas of the Internet are the amount of photos that continue to appear of the above in there Maserati racecars ..

I've sent the pic to a couple of people who might know...

Bruce Polain's reply was, "Maybe Whiteford – Davo would be dressed like Jones and Wylie would be smarter – likely wearing a tie – dunno re Hunt or Patterson."

I had suggested that all of these drivers were in the running as they were there. Jon Davo hasn't yet got back to me.
