Does anyone have a list of races and winners in the Italian F3 series from the early-mid 80's to 1991?

I know that from 92 onwards they are in Autocourse, but not sure how far back Autocourse gives the info.

Rinaldo Capello, not Capelli. Guess who is he? The now famous endurance racer "Dindo" Capello...! The world is small.

A lot of familiar names there.
Was the Italian F3 championship more significant then than it is now? Fisichella won the Italian F3 championship - has the series thrown up anyone of note since then?

What about other 'second division' F3 series - did anyone familiar win races in French F3 in the late eighties/early nineties?

Lagorce and Boullion won races in 92 French F3 series while Minassian won races in 94. For race winners of the French F3 champion see the F3 section of my website, it has the winners since 1992. I don't have any data before 92 though, can anyone else help here?

Forgot to think about it, but ...
The information you're looking for is probably available in Jimmy Piget's excellent Booklet!

Maybe not in the printed vesion, but IIRC it's all in the electronic version...
Don't have it with me at the moment, so I can't tell for sure...

I don't know if there available on 'the net', but Jimmy kindly mailed the electronic versions to a great number of TNF'ers, so if you ask him kindly, maybe you can get one as well?

Gert.

I've recently managed to get hold of the 1985 Italian F3 support race, at Monza, and that's brought me here after a good search round.

Thanks to the excellent lists provided above, i've established that Franco Forini won the race, and i know that the likes of Amati, and Bertaggia were in the race as well.

Does anyone have the race results for this event?, or a list of the entrants. I tried the link in the early posts but that had no further information.

I searches the championship table of the 1976 Formula Three championship, with the points, teams, cars (with engines). Champion was Riccardo Patrese with a March Toyota from Trivellato Racing. But then?

I hope someone can help me!

An interesting titbit from my time away, thank you sat! :) Perhaps you can also help me with a query I had many years ago about the 1986 Italian GP F3 support race (Sep 6)???? The only thing I was able to establish back then was that the race apparently took place, as an Italian magazine deemed it "interesting", but failed to mention who won it (apart from anything else)! :

I can confirm the first statement (the Imola NC round was Apr 27), and thank you for the Italian GP support winner - still looking for complete results, though!

I don't know if it's the same race and if perhaps Monti was disqualified afterwards?

Monti started the season in England, as team mate to Damon Hill, but results wouldn't come and he returned to Italy just prior to the Varano race, substituting Scapini in the Automotor team. A good decision, since he took pole and won the race! He also won at Pergusa on July 5, but since he still ran on a British licence he was inelligible for Italian Championship points, and it were Barbazza and Visco, respectively, who scored full points.

Something that sticks out immediately: not only was Capello a regular frontrunner in a Ravarotto Ralt/Alfa before and after this race, so it's difficult to see him change to a backmarker outfit, let alone driving the oldest car in the field! Astofer also had a new Reynard and a couple of MK45 Martinis to chose from!

Do you have more on these races? For 1984 and '85 I have only the winners, except for one or two races. I'd be delighted to have the top 6, or even 10 finishers! :cat:

Hello Fines

Did you manage to get the top ten for the Italian F3 series for 1984 and 1985?

I might be able to assist if you're still on the look out as I have a lot of unsorted data from this era, but do not have a points table to authenticate the information.

If someone has access to an official final points table, please let me know.

I do recall in the 1980's some races doubled up as rounds of the European F3 championship and a country's national championship (not sure about 84 & 85 though), so results may not have been reflective of points scored for a national title.

Sorry it's taken so long to respond, but I have been a dormant TNF'er for a long time and am only now coming out of hibernation!

Lets see what's out there....

I think Jacques Villeneuve raced in Italian F3. Haven't seen his name listed so maybe I'm mistaken.

No, you're not - he did three seasons of Italian F3, but wasn't very successfully... no, scratch that, he wasn't successful, period (first year he often failed to qualify, the other years he managed one second place finish each, not much else).

Rupert, I'm still interested, but am heavily involved in a very different project right now, and for some time to come! Go ahead, post what you've got - I will see what I can find re points tables.

I hope someone can help me!

I think Patrese was in a Chevron B34. The year (77) after was Elio de Angeles (sp I'm sure) with both a Chevron B38 and Ralt RT1.

JV did race in Italian F3 but don't remember which year. It was before he went to the States. I don't think he figured much.

Sorry Rupert for not answering, but don't worry, just post what you've got. This is INFORMATION, DATA... there's no such thing as copyright if you just post results here! If there was, I'd be long gone on a governmental vacation for years by now!

Sorry for not posting results on the Italian F3 championship from 84 or 85 yet. Been rather busy on projects of my own and others. The results WILL be posted soon.

Sorry Stefan, I can't help you with 1977 Italian series.

Regards.

Items of interest to see for me would be 1980 and 81 Dallaras. Also does anyone have any pictures or info on the March 803 or 813's that Art Merzario ran in 1981 with Alfa power? F2 driver Pierro Nechi qualified one at Monaco that year but I think a pair of March's generally ran in Italy.

Also can anyone enlighten me on the 'Monza Playboy' - Cannazi or something similar who made occasional but rapid Italian F3 outings in the late 70s and early 80s, generally at the Lotteria.

Fernando Cazzaniga was who I was thinking of. Also known as The Monza Playboy.
