In a 1976 article that appeared in Autosport, Nigel Roebuck wrote : Pedro was one on his own, he has no counterpart today. Deeply religious, he was a complete fatalist: "God is the only one that can tell you that this is the end of the line, and it is no matter where you are". It was an approach to life which greatly affected his attitude to driving. His absence from the circuits is still conspicious as far as I'm concerned. The little man with the Bentley, the deerstalker, the sunglasses, the sleek black hair ... Pedro Rodriguez was the purest racer to be found anywhere.
It has been 40 years to the day that Pedro left us and I can honestly say that I still miss him enormously. That's why I will always keep his memory alive, till we meet at that great bar in the sky.
I was lucky enough to see Pedro race in the 1968 Tasman Cup Series in Australia.
He was a real racer - in cars that were barely competitive that he transformed into cars that had a real chance of winning.
here are two photos from Warwick Farm.
Here he trys the V8 in practice.

I've always been fascinated by the high-winged Formula One cars. Pedro Rodriguez in the BRM in the later part of the 1968 season, I believe.

Fragile affairs were they not?

In a time when the racing cars were indeed untamed beasts and dead was really lurking at every corner, Pedro always pushed to the limit. He knew no fear!
I was not fortunate enough to see him racing live, but from the existing footage you can see his amazing skill and commitment. Seeing him dominate that 917 borders on the unbelievable.
He was the pride of Mexico. he is dearly missed.
Descanza en paz Pedro!

I took it at Road America during one of the old Can Am races. It's Pedro, but I can't remember the ferrari Type.
It was their abortive attempt at the Can Am, as I recall.
Enjoy!
