Thumbing through some of my old (and water damaged) issues of the Swedish motorsport magazine 'Bilsport', I've found some additional information for Darren Galpins Minor Championships Results Index about the 1971 Formula Super Vee Gold Pokal.

Round 1, Thruxton, 12 April 1971

In an article, in issue 9/1971, on Greger Kronegård, it is mentioned that he finished in 11th place, due to a 'nearly standard engine'.

Round 2, Zolder, 18 April 1971

A tabulation, in issue 10/1971, of the first five rounds give these results for for round 2:

1. Helmut Koinigg, A
2. Erich Breinsberg, A
3. Werner Riedl, A
4. Huub Vermuelen, NL
5. Rainer Braun, D
6. Manfred Schurti, FL

Round 3, Nürburgring, 1 August 1971

In the Kronegård article in 9/1971, it is mentioned the he retired 'after barely a lap'.

Round 4, Mantorp Park, 8 August 1971

My first race  (as spectator, that is... I'm still waiting for my first race driving  )

Strangely enough, Bilsport published no results from this race, but the Kronegård article mentiones that Bertil Roos 'made his third race as a works driver for Kaimann' (i.e. not in a Horag), that Rolf Tellsten 'fought many hard battles behind the leaders', and that Bror Jaktlund's RPB 'went on strike on the way to the start'.

The 10/1971 tabulation has Josef Albisser 5th, and Tony Roberts 6th.

Non-championship race, Hämeenlinna, ? Aug (?) 1971

The article has this to say: 'After Mantorp the Super Vee-circus went to Hämeenlinna in Finland, where Greger once again claimed the top position on the podium. Roos was 5th, Tellsten 8th, while the bad luck would not let go of Bror Jaktlund - who had to retire.'

Round 5, Keimola, 22 Augusti 1971

Issue 10/1971 has the following results:

1. Greger Kronegård, S, Bonnier-Lola, 48.48,63
2. Huub Vermenlen (sic), NL, Royale, 48.57,64 (read Vermuelen)
3. Erich Breinsberg, A, Austro Kaimann, 48.59,14
4. Harve (sic) Le Guellec, F, Royale, 49.04.16 (read Hervé)
5. Sid Fox, GB, Royale, 49.26,54
6. Helmuth Koinigg, A, Austro Kaimann, 49.36,73
7. Jean-Jacques Fouquin, F, Royale, 49.36,94
8. Bertil Roos, S, Austro Kaimann, 49.54,29

The report mentiones that Lasse Sirviö (oil pressure), Mika Arpiainen (puncture) and Mikko Kozarowitsky (spun off) retired.

Final standings

Issue 11/1971 has the following tabulation:

1. E. Breinsberg, A 9-6-0-0-4-5-6-3-0=33
2. G. Kronegård, S 0-0-0-9-9-8-3-0-0=29
3. H. Koinigg, A 0-9-0-0-1-0-0-0-0=19
W. Reidl, A 3-4-2-0-0-0-4-6-0=19
5. M. Schurti, FL 4-1-4-0-0-0-0-0-9=18
6. J. Mass, D 6-0-9-0-0-0-0-0-0=15
7. B. Roos, S 0-0-0-4-0-0-0-9-0=13
8. H. le Quellec (sic), F 0-0-6-0-3-2-1-0-0=12 (read le Guellec)
9. H. Vermuelen, NL 0-3-0-0-6-1-0-0-0=10
10. L. Sirviö, SF 0-0-0-3-0-0-0-4-0=7

(How do I make the thing not eat up my spaces, this looked much better when I wrote it  )

According to this the points for the hillclimb in Gurnigel was 8-5-3(?)-2-1 for 1st to 5th.

Some notes on names:

Greger Kronegård with an å, not ä. This I am certain of. I am less certain of Erich Breinsberg, who is always spelled with an s in the middle. As can be seen, the spelling of foreign (to a Swede) names are a litte hit-or-miss, but the spelling of Breinsberg is consistent.

The Bilsport falls strangely silent, in view of the fact that 5 of the top 10 were Swedes.

All it has to offer, that isn't already on Darren's site, is that Bertil Roos in a Horag placed 7th in the season finale at Hockenheim.

Please note the correct spelling of Huub Vermeulen - one of my heroes and still involved in racing, organizing the Seat Ibiza endurance cup in the Netherlands.
