Well this is embarrassing. The winner of this experimental round of the Provisional Pole Game appears to be... Me! :D

Seeing as I was probably the only one who fully understood the rules and had access to all the stats it's only fair that I be disqualified, so the win is shared by lukywill, WillieF1 and Czesc clap:

The result
Poleman: Barrichello (6)
Lowman: M Schumacher (14)

The scores
lukywill 15

WillieF1 15

Czesc 15

Viss1 14

arcsine 12

nichotj 12

d_view7 10

garth_b 10

Makarias 10

KWSN - DSM 10

Jimmino 10

skylark68 9

Estwald 9

scheivlak 8

fullcourseyellow	8

Brutom 8

TT6 8

Prostfan 7

Ric Bol 6

Marcel Schot 6

None of these got the 5 point correct driver bonus. I seem to recall someone guessed M Schumacher as Lowman, but he must have changed that. Too bad 5 points in this round would have been valuable ;)

Just for fun, here are the scores as they would have been if everyone had posted these guesses for every race throughout the year:
arcsine 203

nichotj 203

lukywill 196

Viss1 172

d_view7 171

skylark68 169

garth_b 163

Ric Bol 161

Makarias 157

KWSN - DSM 157

Marcel Schot 153

scheivlak 153

Estwald 153

WillieF1 147

fullcourseyellow	147

Brutom 146

Prostfan 145

TT6 140

Jimmino 136

Czesc 113
Another tie, but this time fairly understandably since the top two posted exactly the same guesses :)

Here are all the Polemen of the year:
Alonso 4 (Malaysia 9, San Marino 4, Spain 6, Hungary 5)

R Schumacher	3 (Austria 7, Canada 14, France 15)

Barrichello	3 (Great Britain 18, Germany 5, Japan 6)

Gene 1 (Italy 14)

Panis 1 (Europe 9)

Raikkonen	1 (United States 8)

Trulli 1 (Brazil 7)

Fisichella	1 (Monaco 7)

Montoya 1 (Australia 5)
So congratulations to Alonso, the Poleman of 2003

And the Lowmen:
Webber 2 (Austria 15, United States 12)

Wilson 2 (Europe 6, Germany 10)

da Matta	2 (Spain 10, Monaco 4)

Frentzen	2 (Malaysia 6, Hungary 7)

Verstappen	1 (France 19)

Firman 1 (Canada 16)

Raikkonen	1 (Australia 14)

M Schumacher	1 (Japan 14)

Alonso 1 (Italy 13)

Pizzonia	1 (Brazil 10)

Panis 1 (Great Britain 9)

Fisichella	1 (San Marino 7)
3 way tie, decided by how far these guys dropped between qualifying sessions, with Webber getting a whopping total of 27 places! So Webber gets the dubious honour of being this year's Lowman.

Well that's it from me, see you next year!

To quote myself from the game thread:

1. Räikkönen 4

And since this is experimental...

2. M. Schumacher 18

I haven't changed that and nobody else has either so it's still there. I demand 5 points more :D

Oh wow I'm sorry you're right. What can I say, I'm really really tired :p

Not sure what happened, this is all calculated automatically in Excel, and when I pasted the results over you had 10 points, but now you have 15  Anyway, it's corrected, so we have a 3 way tie :D

Isn't Trulli lowman? From 1 to 20?

2. Who will have the lowest provisional starting position at the end of his run?

Neither Trulli nor Ralf finished their runs so they are simply ignored. This was stated in the original thread, although I didn't mention aborted runs precisely. When I said than DNQs would be ignored I was thinking more about drivers who crashed during their run. But this rule applies in this case too.

This will be interesting next year as firstqual and second qual will be run in the same session. You will have to be quick to change your guesses between sessions!
