There are photos of David Piper's transporter in my forthcoming book 'Pit and Paddock", out early 2016. See Coterie Press website for full details.

So, what is the marque and type that David Piper ran.

Look forward to your book. I wish I had the courage to publish a book at that price, the market I publish into has no understanding of the costs incurred in producing low-run quality illustrated books.

The books published by Dalton Watson by David Cross and our own Bjorn Kjer were really great books on the subject. The first one, Inside the Paddock, now well out of print.

By the way I still have a couple of the German Renntransporter books if anyone needs one.

In post 3045 I answered a Bedford small J type , I now ad J1 or 2 ? At least it has vertical grill ribs at the snout.

Has this been mentioned yet?

Commercial Motor magazine has digitised its old issues, while the search isn't 100% there appear to be a few transporter-related articles worth a look.

For example,

Very interesting  - I have a colour photo of David Piper's Lotus 16 in New Zealand January 1960 with yellow rear wheels and grey/black fronts.

Send me an email address by PM and I will send you a copy!

Well worth a look... what car is it?

And just to continue in eldougo's line, this is in the Ford Museum:

In cars, of course, Dodge didn't have an 'Airflow' model, only Chrysler and De Soto. But in trucks it seems they did.

that series of photos look to be on the same trip, that domed structure to the left of the bus looks African, and the tall palms, and fir trees, in one of the other photos on the same seafront, made me think north Africa ? my other half suggested Italy, or southern France    I would say early '60s, one of the other photos in that same set, of the BP petrol station/motel the writing is in Italian, and in that same photo there is what looks to be a red ,formula junior on a trailer, one can see the Number on the car, perhaps a clue there ? a great feature of that "Revs" site is that one can zoom in and pick up lots of details.

here is a link to the Formula Junior ? on a trailer on the forecourt of  the BP petrol/motel station, it's on the left by the pumps. I think most here know how to manipulate the photos on the "Revs" site.
