That´s how the MU does look as Tipo B...actually, it´s a photo from Klausenrennen 2006, but it hasn´t changed.
It is still in German ownership, but has changed hands about three years ago.
The current owner also has a 250F, Birdcage and some more + a Bartoletti Fiat / Ferrari transporter. He prays (probably) daily to the good gods of Fukushima - his business is (obviously) booming - his company is building windparks....

I think what Neil is referring to (and Ralph) is that after the Multi-Union was "restored" to Alfa spec, as in Ralf's photo, there was talk of a car being "reconstucted" as the Multi-Union

This is very sad. I can not understand how somebody can do this.

Here are a couple of earlier threads on the Multi Union:

Multi Union

Multi-Union

The opening post in the first thread indicates that the car was essentially complete and on its wheels in 2007. Has anyone seen it since?

That´s what would like to know, too.
No news of that - where are the remains ?
And how does the car (?) look ?

PS Had a look at the first thread above again (had posted the same photo, sorry..).
Now - where has this Mr. Black gone - one post and then nothing ?

I've been thinking about the issue of the Multi Union. Surely by the time that Staniland and Worters had developed the car to its 1939 zenith there was so little Alfa Romeo Tipo B left that any reconstruction of such would be largely impossible?

I do concur with the sentiment that it was wrong to recreate the Caracciola Tipo B (5006?) from the Multi Union but It would seem to me that the recreated Tipo B is little more than a replica and the majority of the special parts from the Multi Union must render it still extant.

I'm sure someone far more knowledgeable than I could make a more authorative judgement on this.

I haven't looked Ralf, but if it was David Black who was a very well respected Alfa man. then sadly I must report that he died a few years ago

The name was Ben Black (a relative of David Black ?) - he only posted once :
"I have read the various comments regarding the Multi Union and wish express the car is not a pile of bits in a shed, but very much complete, sitting on its wheels since 1990 in near form as it was in its hay day. I hope this resolves some of the speculation."

Would have been nice if he would have shared a bit more about his knowledge.

Bloody Hell Ralf
i did not realise how time had passed, David died in1990, i really can't believe how long ago it was, I thought 4/5 years. Will try to find out about Ben Black because it would be nice to establish the state of the car.

Oh, I agree about the Mazda - I was comparing the sheer loudness rather than the nature of the sound!
I must that Speedscene article - it had loads of little details in abd some pics of the engine components.

Who were the pair than ran a fairly modern Austin production engine - turbocharged - in an early 70s March chassis? Rob Oldaker? And Andy something? One of them (at least) was something fairly influential at BL, I think.

Barn Find...I see the Oldaker/Smith March is for sale here
