People in general greatly overestimated the probability of a draw. Way too much trust was placed on Williams and McLaren, both of whom failed to deliver as far as this game is concerned. Similarly, Ferrari, Renault and BAR especially were sadly underestimated which resulted in plenty of people getting plenty of their guesses wrong and dragged the maximum score for round 1 through the roof. Effectively, only the outcome of the Jordan – Minardi qualifying duel seemed obvious. Other majority predictions that came true included BAR – Sauber in qualifying and Jordan – Minardi in race but, amazingly enough, that was it.
And now for the results. I’ve decided to be funny and calculate results for qualifying and race separately, as well as the overall score which is obviously the basis for the official F1 Pools championship table. I’ve tried my best to make sure that the calculations are correct but if you spot a mistake, PM me or something and I’ll fix it.
In qualifying, we have a tie at the front. dnbn and Aren, sporting identical guesses, get 4/6 right and earn 6.14 points. After them, plenty of people get 3 guesses right, with Apex, ron (who btw was the only one to correctly guess that Jaguar would beat Toyota in qualifying), TT6 and QdfV completing the top 6.

And on to the race day we go. Again, we have a tie between MaDDim and ron (6.63 points, 4 out of 6 guesses correct), with Ventura just a whisker behind. Ric Bol, AD and 130R race to the top 6 as well.

ron steals the limelight, winning by a car length or two ahead of MaDDim and Ventura who finish almost side-by-side and complete the podium trio (7 out of 12 correct each). dnbn is a very close fourth, followed by AD, Aren, Bjorn and Apex who manages the last points finish just ahead of Estwald. The rest are a bit more behind…

This was a rather difficult round. The most popular guesses were XX1 X11 XXX 211 which would’ve netted a grand total of 3.95 points.
Congrats to winners, especially the round 1 champ ron, and everyone else who’s happy with his/her contribution. For the rest of us, there are still 17 races to go – plenty of time to catch up. Or fall further behind for that matter.;)
