Finally, here is the result of round 1 of this year's competition...the times set were significantly faster than we all expected. The new bonus system was put into action, with the following time bonuses awarded for each correct guess:
Q1: Montoya=0.5s, M. Schumacher=0.3s, R. Schumacher=0.1s
Q2: M. Schumacher=0.5s, Barrichello=0.3s, Montoya=0.1s
Race: M. Schumacher=0.5s, Barrichello=0.3s, Alonso=0.1s
All bonus times were deducted from the total time error for each player. The times were then converted into a score relative to the lowest total. As a result, the winner of the round scores 0 by default. So, without further ado, here are the results:

Congratulations to Estwald, the winner of the round. Nobody managed to get all 1.5s bonus time. The closest were Estwald, WillieF1, Pioneer, KWSN - DSM and Jimmino, who all claimed 1.3s. TT6 got the lowest total error, but a bonus of 0.1s compared to 1.3s for Estwald made the difference. Best session guesses: scheivlak was 0.002s out on Q1, Marcel Schot was 1.276s out on Q2 and TT6 was 1.308s out on the race.
Thanks to everyone for taking part in this competition. Look out for the thread for the Malaysian GP, which should be open soon. As always, any comments/suggestions are appreciated.

Excellent! Not me, though.

I have a sneaking suspicion that we'll see several races where many participants score a 0.000 due to the driver deductions, as we're learning this season's pace...

That's not going to happen. The only way many players will score 0.000 is if they hve exactly the same raw score (after deductions) as the winner. For example, if three players score -1.000, -0.700 and 0.400, then their recorded scores will be 0.000, 0.300 and 1.400 respectively.

Oh, so you can go to negative raw values... I imagined you could only go down to zero. Well that makes it a bit more intriguing then!
