Commentary:
As the figures show, qualifying was a bitch and the race wasn’t much different. Not a single player was adventurous enough to predict a Jaguar sweep in duel 12 which is why no points were scored for that particular match-up. Honorary mentions to people who had a nose for the unexpected: Bjorn – the one and only who knew BAR would kick Renault’s ass in qualifying, dnbn and Jimmino – who were the only ones to predict a McLaren-Sauber qual draw, Nasty McBastard, shays and The Kanisteri for having faith in Toyota in duel 4 and, finally, Nasty McBastard (again!) and Schuting Star for betting on Sauber humiliating McLaren in the race.
OK, enough with the chit-chat.
To paraphrase my hero James Allen: Qualifying was tighter than Martin Brundle’s pants (although I confess I have neither first-hand knowledge of said pants nor any idea how they fit so I’ll have to rely on James here; I’m sure he knows). Anyway, the top 8 qualifiers were separated by no more than 0.54 points with Jimmino on pole, followed closely by Bjorn and dnbn. A 5-way tie in P4 means that Estwald, Moanaman, pinin406, Prostfan and rich42 complete the top 8.
The race was even closer at the front with LB, QdfV, WillieF1 and Viss1 all at 5.81 points - a correct guess ahead of the best of the rest.
As a result, we have a new race winner – Jimmino – who is accompanied on the podium by dnbn (nothing new here!) and Estwald and Prostfan who tie at 3rd. Points finishes also for QdfV, Viss1, Nasty McBastard and Bjorn.

For reference, the popular guess XX1 X2X XX1 X22 would’ve been worth 6.93 points.
And off to the championship standings after round 3/18. dnbn, who has managed an astonishing 4th-1st-2nd record so far, continues his domination, extending his already comfortable lead to 7.53 points which is, like, a lot. And a bit more, considering that positions 2 – 22 are covered by 7.14 points. Do something, people, he’s running away with it! At this rate, he’ll clinch the title sooner than Michael Schumacher. Elsewhere in standings, Ventura and Makarias hang on to their top 3 positions but the gaps are narrowing as the rest of the field closes in.
From now on, the championship table will include a new feature - the change in position - that’ll help you keep track of your progress or non-progress. A 0 indicates no change in position, ie. you are 1st now, you were 1st after round 2 as well. Negative numbers imply you’ve lost places, positive ones that you’ve managed to overtake some sorry bugger that had the nerve to be ahead of you.
