...I have some color footage with no sound, of a race at Goodwood(TT I think), where there was no evidence of who crossed the finish line first and I had a pretty good idea that the year in question was either 1958 or 1959? How would I go about identifying the correct year? The bit that I have, is approximately 10 minutes long. Would there be any defining characteristics between those races, other than being 361 days apart?

BTW, I have tried to decipher this puzzle by looking at various results pages, but maybe there isn't enough evidence to go on. Hope someone can help.

Without knowing what cars were portrayed its hard to say. Here's a couple of things you'd see in the 1959 TT but not '58:
Costin Lister
Cooper Monaco
Aston Martin pit fire
Aston Martin using built-in pneumatic jacks
Ferraris
Tojeiro-Jaguar

I don't think any D-Types ran in '59 but they did in '58

Hope this helps

Could you see the number of some the cars running, with their respective colours? This could be helpful.

Thanks for the tips, guys!

Something I just noticed, a red #12 D-Type Jag coming into the pits. Could it be:

But how sure are you that it is the TT? Could it be the Easter Meetng or the Whitsun Meeting? Both had healthy grids in the sports car races.

Red herring - In 1958 Britain's top cyclist, Reg Harris, had atry at car racing and raced a red D-Type Jag, a production short nose without a fin. I don't know if he raced at Goodwood. My description refers to the Silverstone Daily Express Trophy meeting.

Can you post a couple of single frames from your film, so that 'them as know' can sort you out, rather than yours truly, who doesn't really know.

Good idea. I really need to slow down, once in a while. I'd like this to be right, not half-assed. Thanks D-Type!

The Cast, in order of appearance: (NOTE: This looks to be two separate events or maybe Heat races)
