I know there are some more threads with the same title, but I could't find anything that fit exactly, so I open a new one.

Skabik sent me a photo of a Brabham Alfa Romeo. What model, year, event? (click to open large image, 458 KB) :

The man in front of the car looks like Larry Perkins. The car is BT45, isn't it?

It seems that Larry (if the guy is Larry Perkins ;) ) is sticking number 7.

It seems an Alfa Romeo boxer engine...

Something sounds about Japan 1976, Fuji...

Definitely Ecclestone...Larry Perkins was quite tall - five ten or so I vaguely recall.

Don't know why, but think it's an early season race.

I agree. It's Bernie.

Could it be from 1977?

I've just looked through some contemporary magazines and found a similar looking Brabham called "BT45X" tested during off season of 1976 (probably November, December sort of month) at Paul Richard.

Yes indeed, it is Bernie (I didn't think about Bernie when I did my previous post, just thinking about Perkins only).

There is unsual front wing on Guido's pic. which consists of two parts. The main part of front wing is quite similar on front wing of BT42 which was used in 1973 season

Posted Image

And auxiliary part looks like front wing of Hesketh 308D used by H. Ertl in 1976 season

I've never ever seen this configurations of front wing on BT45 during 1976 season, so it must be some off testing before or after 1976.

It could be one of the first versions of Alfa powered Brabham. It rings a bell, but cannot say by memory.
Guido, since you often refer to Autosprint, have you the relevant issues? I have not a complete collection for those years, so I cannot be sure to find it.

No, I'm sorry but I have only a couple of Autosprint dated 1975-1977 and I don't recall such a configuration.

This pic was submitted by me and not by Skabik only because I can upload on a server and he can't; but I can't help in its identification.

Ciao,
Guido

Having looked in my Autosports late '75 - early '76, my guess would be that this is a BT45 from very early '76. When the BT45 was introduced in October '75, it was in the white Martini livery (and also sporting a nose job that resembles a modern white car...), and at it's first race (Brazil - late January '76) it had the distinctive red Martini livery, with the blue-black bands swooping down the nose, not just on the rear wing and along the sides, as in the picture.

The car was tested at Pal Ricard in december 1976 with this and other front and rear wings.
Carlos Pace was driving.

Looks like the Anderstorp pits, maybe Reutemann in qualifying for the swedish grand prix?
