As a quick update...

For the Monterey Historics only the Group will be restricted to 2-liter sports racing cars only. Then, only those sports racing cars with correct, period engines will be allowed - no 2.3 YBM filled B19's for example.

We have collected 15 confirmed entries for the Monterey race with another 15 that have been contacted and are considering their entry. In addition, we have another 6 or or so, that we are in the process of contacting - so again, if you have a Chevron sports racer from the B6 through the B36 submit your entry soon!

It looks like we'll have at least 7 beautiful B16's there... and the last Targa Florio winner - The Apache Chevron B36 as well!

Remember, this criteria is for the Monterey Historics only. Other events on the Chevron 40th Anniversary Tour will have the open-wheel cars as well.

It used to be Classick, but now it's Classic
Whether he merely adopted the latter spelling or actually went through the deed poll process, I don't know.

Regarding the Oulton Park Gold Cup:

On Sunday 28 August, a reunion of Chevron drivers, team members and employees will be held during two day historic race meeting. Monday 29 August, the famous Gold Cup will be awarded to the winner of a race dedicated to Chevron. Both sport cars and single-seaters will take part. Displays and a parade will also celebrate Chevron at the circuit that has always been the spiritual home of the marque.

In other news: events planned for the summer months include a Chevron sports car race at the Monterey Historic Race meeting in Laguna Seca, California. For this event, the grid will be restricted to the 2-litre sports racing cars. Currently, seven B16s are expected to race in a field of at least 20 Chevron cars.

Another European date is in the works:
September 24-25
Spa Francorchamps Chevron class in the World Sportscar Masters Race (to be confirmed)

I always wondered how Jim Crawford would have fared in a B24 or B28...

A number of his contemporaries - Tony Brise, Alan Jones, Dave Morgan quickly spring to mind - had occasional F5000 drives and didn't do too badly I recall.

Wow, 31 Chevron Sports Racers. Unfortunately, I really don't think I can make it all the way down there, which is a pity as there are few things automotive that I would like to see more. At least I've got my 40th Anniversary shirt already.

I don't know if anyone noticed but Autosport last week announced that Roger Andreason and Tim Coleman have re-acquired the majority equity in Chevron Cars Ltd. from Chris Smith. There had been a rumour doing the rounds for some while now that Chris has been unwell and this was backed up by him dropping several undergoing projects in recent months. Whilst Chris's policy was to agree to disagree with Vin & Helen Malkie's Chevron Racing and exist (semi) amicably side by side, I wonder what line Roger and Tim will now take?

I understand there were only 7 B6's wondering if anyone knows owt about the one driven by Nick Thompson and Sean McClurg at the Oulton Park Gold Cup meeting this year ?

The chassis number and original owner would be great anything else would be a bonus

Hello. 

  I am interested in obtaining photos of Derek Bennett that could be used to accompany an article I have written about him.  I can't submit the article to any online or print publishers until I have at least one decent photo.  It is amazing that someone who achieved so much has been recognized by so few, at least here in the United States.  

   Previously, I made a lengthy presentation about Tazio Nuvolari at the International Motor Racing Research Center, also in Watkins Glen.  My next project will be about Nuvolari's great friend, Bernd Rosemeyer.

  My interest is simply that of someone who has been a road racing enthusiast since 1952, when I attended the last race through the streets of Watkins Glen, N.Y.  I should add that I do these projects out of passion and do not receive any remuneration.
