Sorry Folks, lack of time, so I won't be there. I'm looking forward to your reports.

The second Dutch TNF meeting was an intimate affair: attending were Paul Hooft, Henri Greuter, Henk Vasmel, Ed Heuvink, yours truly and we were honored with a very welcome guest: Rob Wiedenhoff. Rene de Boer AND his Quattro were missing, unfortunately. He had moved our meeting to Italy without letting us know.

Nearly three hours were spent talking about motorsport present and past, with some pleasant anecdotes by Rob Wiedenhoff. Subjects were Dijon, Novi, Andretti Sr, Villeneuve, von Trips, Mazda, Spyker, Montoya, Paul Newman, NASCAR, Skoda and about 128 other things - you get the picture, I guess.

Another subject was Wim Loos - Paul Hooft told us that there is a radio documentary on him available for download. I have downloaded it and just listened to part 1 of 3 (30 minutes). Fascinating!
The link is here - it's Dutch, of course :p

Really sorry I couldn't make it... At the very last minute, I got an invitation to go to Italy for a nice feature story in a Dutch car magazine on 25 years of Audi quattro history. In the beautiful scenery of the Dolomites, I had the wonderful opportunity to drive Audi Ur-quattro, sport quattro, S2, RS2, TT, TT quattro sport, A4, A6 etc. and do a passenger ride with the A2 rally-quattro.

I must admit, it didn't take long to make up my mind, also knowing that our TNF-meeting was taken care of by colleague Ed Heuvink... You can read the full download on my exploits in the May issue of Carros Magazine and a future edition of the Dutch Audi magazine.

And for the next TNF-meeting, I promise to be there!

Jeeezz Mattijs...what have we here?!

Some locals will give their front teeth for a car like this one. Then again, the chaps that drive these stuff usually don't have front teeth, anyway...

And here we are again, at the end (well, almost) of another exciting motor sport year, with lots of memories and nice experiences waiting to be shared.

So, may I suggest the next Dutch TNF gathering on Saturday, November 19, 13.00 h, at Motel Maarsbergen?

Cars, books, brochures, photos, scale models and the like are welcome!

By the way: René suggested 13:00, so Henri, let's meet at 12:15 at the Lelylaan - I'm afraid we would have to talk about Danica Patrick or the 1974 Dutch TC season for over an hour...

OK.
There isn't much I can tell you about 1974 touring cars (wasn't that the year when Nico Chiotakis or Cees Siewertse ran a Porsche Carrera that broke its clutch at every start?) and there isn't much I can tell you about Danica by the way, I leave that to others...

WAIT! WAIT! How about a December meeting at the Amsterdam airport? I am stuck there from about 0700 until about 1600  on 11 December while waiting for my connection to return to Kuwait.

Don, I am afraid that on December 11, I will be in Dubai for the A1 Grand Prix.

But next week could serve as an "appetizer"!

I hope you will have a great meeting. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the meeting.
BTW a meeting during the Summer period would suit me better.

At the moment, I have ten people who are planning to come, plus one or two who are not certain yet. That looks quite good. Last minute arrivals always welcome, of course!

Hi guys,

How about another meeting at the end of summer? I was thinking along the lines of meeting in Apeldoorn this time, to combine it with a visit to the concours d'elegance. I am planning to go there anyway, so let's hear about your ideas.

Regards,

Henk Vasmel

Sounds good, but the Concours is the same weekend as the DTM-race at Zandvoort, and I suppose it is not difficult to guess where I will be... Although I would have liked to see the Concours.

A week after DTM at Zandvoort and the Apeldoorn Concours d'Elegance, the HARC* organises the Grand Prix Classic. Maybe an idea to have a dutch TNF-meet there and enjoy (some) historic racing.

I don't know. We are wondering in Holland if we should count Jos to racing nostalgia or not. His mentor Rothengatter only wanted to race F1 or bust. Unclear if Jos has the same (bad) career planning as Huub.

HARC Grand Prix Classic is ook een geweldig idee. Bereikbaarheid goed? Ongetwijfeld zij er veel onder ons die daar kind aan huis zijn, dus ook een goede plek voor een meeting kunnen vinden.

I'll be at the Classic GP at Zandvoort (doing the timekeeping) and would like to get acquainted with the dutch TNF scene.
And of course you're all welcome to come and have a look round the timekeepers box.

The Restaurant 'De la course' is still there.... Will be more relaxed than the Mickeys bar. This bar is in the center of all activities, so quite crowded.
