Among some very old notes of mine, I found references to a GP de la Cote d'Azur in 1925 and 1926. I wonder if someone has some information about these races. Dates, participants and results, where it took place, were it run other years etc?
The only thing I know is this:
1925:
1st Robert Benoist
2nd Louis Chiron
1926:
1st "W Williams", Bugatti
Thanks in advance

The Grand Prix de la Côte d'Azur was not a race but a trophy given by 3 local Automobile Clubs, based on the overall rankings of 3 events organised by those AC. This ranking was established by the sum of the times.
In 1925, the 3 events were 3 hillclimbs: La Turbie, Mont Agel and Esterel organised respectively by the AC of Nice, AC of Monaco and the AC of Cannes.
1- Robert Benoist (Delage) with 22 m 32s 3/5 (4m 38s 3/5, 10m 58s 2/5, 6m 55s 3/5)
2- Louis Chiron (Bugatti Brescia 1500 cc)
In 1926, same events: Mont Agel, La Turbie, and Esterel
1- "Williams" (Bugatti 2-liter)
In 1927, same events: Mont Agel, La Turbie, and Esterel
1- Proal (Bugatti T35A 2-liter)
In 1928, La Turbie, Mont Agel but the Esterel hillclimb was replaced by the Super Cannes event, a race against the clock on 3 laps of the Circuit of La Riviera.
1- Louis Chiron (Bugatti 2-liter), 4m 21s 4/5, 12m 27s 1/5, 9m 28s 1/5
2- Lorthiois (Bugatti T35B 2.3-liter), 4m 45s 1/5, 11m 54s 3/5, 9m 48s 4/5
Bengt, do you want to know more about those events ? I also have the dates... somewhere... in my big Hillclimb Excel files
