DCN -- didn't the McLaren boys nickname him "Chris" when he first visited?

The managing editor was Tony Ruddlin, and it was published by his own enterprise in Brentwood, Essex.
Doug's double-page story was called "A WRY LOOK" and could have been a regular feature. I am not sure because I have this lonely issue in my files, found in the remains of what Briggs Cunningham had given to me when thinning the library at the Costa Mesa Museum. In the story, DCN described his adventures crossing the Channel in a right-hand drive Renault (horror!) R10 collapsible sedan aboard the Hover-Lloyd SRN4 hovercraft, landing in a foggy and soggy France and attempting to attend the Paris 1000KM race in Monthlery. This race which I also attended as an enthusiast and gopher for the MATRA Sports concern was shortened to 586kms, and the MATRA did an easy one-two, encouraging me at the time to push a 1/24 scale model onto the Heller company for which I was a designer. Unfortunately and in spite of my efforts, it never happened. I still have copies of the hand-drawn vellums...
Doug's prose was already impressive, with a clear, concise and humoristic view of things, already a prime candidate for litterary stardom in every sense. This was no mere story, it was great read.
For your enjoyment, below is a pic of DCN last summer at the Goodwood Venetian party, just back from the watering hole and sipping well-deserved vintage Veuve Clicquot:
As one may observe, there is a certain shift in hair fashion and as for most of us, weight distribution. But the fine and observing eye is still there, along for an appreciation for the better things in life.
May he be with us and enlighten our minds with non-revisionist history for many, many more years.
Regards,

No way, Elduogo- not even Doug is that old... T54 has beaten me to it, but I would have guessed '60-ies, not roaring twenties.;)

Me wife thinks that you were a rather good-looking young lad. I will have to lock her up now.
