This may well have been covered before but I recently re-read John Miles account of Jochen's Monza accident where he talks about the failure of a brake shaft on the Lotus.

Looking at this picture supplied by AlexA on the fameflame site I wondered whether this brake shaft is visible among all the broken bits on the truck to the left of the guy sitting down. It has the brake disc attached and must be from a front wheel, so it is not a drive shaft.
