I wish I had known that S. Moss set the fastest lap in the Rome Grand Prix of 1950 around the Caracalla circuit - it would have meant so much more when I was walking around it last year....

However, looking at Stefan Ornerdal's wonderful website today (where I found the above information) I was surprised to see a competitor in that race named Luigi de Filippis. What relation (if any) was this gentleman to Maria?

XIX Circuito di Pescara-15.08.50-Luigi di Filippis Maserati 4CLT/48-1603.9th on grid-finished 6th -2laps behind.
Maria as first woman to enter F1WC I would have thought was worth a book on her family history?

Bearing in mind the reliability of much of the barchetta website, I would like some other evidence

There was also an Antonio de Filippis who finshed sixth in the Fiat 500 class of "La Finale del II Volante d'Argento" 7 November 1948. He lived in Naples.

Antonio de Filippis was (is?) Maria Teresa's brother. An engineer, he raced the Neapolitan Specials (Monaci, Paganelli) in the period straddling 1950.
