Sadly no other pics of the Charlie Sanby bike though. :(

In the history of the bike Joey Dunlop won the Schweppes tt on in 1977 his mechanics used the Charlie Sanby chassis and put in the 700 or 750 yam engine it was mentioned recently in an edition of Classic racer. With the quote that this bike was damaged in the first corner pile up at Brands in 1975. Is it the same bike you are talking about.;)

I read that Mark, it inferred that the Pat Mahoney bike was a Seeley, it most definitely wasn't, but maybe the engine came from the Mahoney bike Joey used?

Yes right, he rode a RG 500 in the G.P.'s in 1976 (white fairing with stripes) , as i know equipped with a works engine, but not the best one....!

I don't know who this one belonged too, but he was European and Blonde I seem to remember, he is just on the left! and was an addition to the 1975 Silverstone FIM 750 race that weekend.

So guys, i have to correct myself, it's not a Spondon frame, it's a Seeley, the rear swingarm and swingarmpivot, the rear shocks etc.. Have compared it with some other examples. As we know now the Sheene Seeley TR is a kind of a prototype, the later Seeley frames for the GT/TR engine, i would say the standart type, is a bit different in construction!
The ignition cover is surely a Barton Motors part. Barry Hart offered also a six speed gear box (and a dry clutch conversion) kit for the GT750 engine... one year before the works riders got one in their bikes

Karl

The rider is surely out of the U.K. (or maybe an italian) shifting on the right side....!

Hm, is that possible  , beside Grahams picture(it's from 1976) i've seen only one other pic of that "Bryants of Biggleswade TR750", it shows also the front side. I would say it looks like a "high boy" type Suzuki frame, the front end is surely TR750(or RG500, was the same at that time). Scott Sanby told me that his uncle have had a good contact to Barry Sheene and was surely able to got some, outdated "special parts" (maybe a complete old bike) out of this source. Maybe there is someone here in the forum who can tell us more about.

Karl / Graham this is only a wild Guess but the fact that you mention "Bryants of Biggleswade TR750", could the rider be Mike Trimby as he lived in that area when he had a TZ 750 ( or could have been an OWO1 cant remember) HTH Julian

Just had a look through the programme again, I know there not totally reliable but...here goes, on TR750 that weekend were,
Woods,Sheene,Newbold in Heron colours so not one of theirs.
Lansivouri,Smart, I have pictures of them its not theirs,
but also that day was,
Gordon Pantall and....Charlie Sanby on TR750, so it probably belongs to one of them?
Charlie Qualified on the back row of the grid to, where as Pantall did not qualify or did not turn up for the meeting?
So this could be the Sanby bike "Dear Watson" ;)
Over to you again Karl.

Graham,

I might be mistaken, but this bike looks very similar to the one that won the Bemsee 1000 championship I think it was '77 maybe '78 ridden by Barry Waters, I have a prog' with his pic on the front and even the paint on the seat looks the same.

You must have a snap lurking somewhere!

Can you scan it? I do have a picture of Barry waters, not sure what he is on though? (Norton comes to mind!) and I have to find it, its not down loaded I think?

I knew you were going to ask that, sorry no scanner I think we may have one at work, I'll check tomorrow.

Although I don't think it will copy well it's sort of a half tone mono picture on a pink coloured card, you know how they used to do their programmes, no consideration for us 30 years later, fancy not knowing about scanners.
