Hi

I went to Silverstone last year and sat on the start/finish line which I thought was a bit crap especially compared to Hungary from the year before. Nothing much happens on that bit of track, you can't really see into the pits especially compared to Hungary where you can see the whole pit lane and right into the back of the garages (yes Connie, that was me looking at you hehehe) and the TV screen was small.

So this year, I am looking at somewhere else. I thought at the end of hangar straight would be good as a lot of overtaking happens there but the grandstands seem so far away from the track. How about Abbey or Club??

Anyone have any really good suggestions and experiences of where to sit??

Many thanks

Hello,

Well I've been in Luffield B, Abbey and Bridge before. Luffield was good that year because it rained during the race and there was quite a bit of action there, but as I'm not too tall and despite the tiered seating it does get hard to see the track when everyone stands up, coupled with the roof and the struts. It probably would be excellent if you could get a front seat.

Abbey wasn't bad but you don't really see any real action there, just fast cars braking very late which was amazing. Anyway for the money Bridge is a really good spot and I'd recommend there to anyone. This year however I'm going in to Stowe. My friends said they tried everywhere on Saturday and found Stowe to be their favoured spot.

I've Done Becketts Stowe Abbey (when you could get inside) Copse either before the entry or after the apex, Luffield, Woodcote, Bridge encl. and Club banking

Favourites Club and Luffield simply because you get time with each car as it negotiates the tricky sections. lots of braking midcorner moments and fest acceleration make both of those great places. the atmos is also very good in both places Becketts is amazing but you are a bit far back in the stands (btw even though they are covered those stands face into the wind and if it rains you DO GET WET!!)

I'm in Club gold this year (partly price partly for photos) and if you purchase a 3 day pass you can try out all the other spots on friday and Saturday for your self :D

Personally Stowe has lost much of it's charm and impact which is why it isn't top of my list but it does give you a cracking view from hangar to Farm!!

Last year I was in a special enclosure at Becketts, which was great as it wasnt too crowded, and was a great view of the cars performing at what is supposed to be the 'ultimate' piece of track to watch! Especially seeing schumi, who seemed to go about twice as fast as everyone else for those few laps when Kimi went in!

Last year was great too because you had the opportunity to upgrade your bronze ticket so you could use any open grandstand on the friday and saturday; however the ticket office told me that wouldnt be happening this year, so I've gone for Farm Silver tickets. They are the 'D' row on the extreme left of the grand stand... does anybody know if these are any good?!

If those seats turn out to be a bit useless, I'll probably head down to Club at 6am and claim a place there! I think this is the best spot on the circuit, and wish they would stick a grandstand there! The thing I dont like about General Walkabout tickets, is that once your there you cant move, or you'll never get back to the same space!

What do you lot think?

If you mean a stand coveringall of club then definately no! it'd be like taking away the terraces at Luffield and Copse.

On the fence, turn in at Maggots.
it may well be covered up now with blue plastic or Fosters signage but that was where I stopped back in the day.

you can still stand and appreciate them in all their glory there (I use the term glory advisedly IMO), but it is piss poor for photos. there are simply too many layers of fencing.

I found Luffield and Abbey to be pretty good, you can see a few corners from there. Phil is right, Stowe is far from what is used to be!!

On race day last year, I got a fold up chair, and sneaked in and found a spot pretty early, but not too late, between becketts and maggots, right near the fence, there's a screen there, it's not bad, but I haven't checked out other places, and other tickets, but between beckets and magotts was pretty interesting, but normally it's all clean through there, but still cool to see a f1 car go through there.

Sith's recommendation of Luffield and Abbey seems the one to go for though, I briefly saw those in practice sessions, should of saw more of it. Probabley this year.

hi. need some help here.

does anyone know wether the CLUB SILVERSTONE Grandstand located at becketts outside is any good - is it close to the track or miles away due to runoff tarmac/gravel?

its really confusing and you cant get a good idea from the youtube videos/tv covetage and other stuff in the web

in general, is the maggots/beckets complex free to walkabout with a general admission ticket or is it any anclsure where you have to have a specialticket

pls help

Becketts outside is far back from the circuit. you have a pedestrian walkway, General Admission banking, Fences, gravel and grass between you and the track.
