And has push button doors not lift up handles. Or maybe they were later?

The lift up handles were Australia only. ;)

Not really...when your car is only 10' 1/4" long.....then, length or any other envy isn't a factor...they are loved all over the world for what they are

Small world. Please give him my regards. Does Rob still have the Le Mans Healey as well?

David....Rob remembers you from Orange...says you are a really terrific fellow! and boy could you drive an Amazon - a legend....or words to that effect.

Careful getting your head through those narrow doors mate :p

There is a pic of the Camel Rover in one of its guises on P7 of the Aussie Sports Sedan thread.
There was a write up on that car in Australian Muscle Car mag a couple of years ago.It went though a lot of 'development' and from what I gather is stuffed, just a flexible saggy wreck.
Romsey Quints wrote a very humorous article about that car in Sports Car World I guess early 70s

You are partly correct....according to Rob....I believe he may have asked CAMS if he could use a new base unit....

But in his words....regarding the comment being a flexible saggy wreck, refers to a statement I made that the roll cage/space frame [a la V8 Supercar] if removed would leave a very frail shell which would have no torsional rigidity what so ever, owing to the fact that the entire bulkhead was removed to fit the Repco Holden engine under the front windscreen.

However, as it stands it is a solid as a rock. Cheers, Rob.

Terry, I don't want to rake over old coals (so to speak)...but "was severely damaged in a garage fire" has been disputed...the current owner is saying it was moved away in time to minimise the damage.

The Rover from memory was fairly scorched in the Ash Wednesday fires in the early 80s when Jarrets Bridgewater workshop was burnt. The car did race after that.

From memory Ivan Piatnesi was the last to actually race it after purchase from Jarrets. The Muscle Car article did say it was buggered, just a big sponge. I spoke to Ivan about the car in recent years and he said it was not very good and I think he regretted buying it. Before my time though I do remember seeing it race, probably in David Jarrets hands.
