This is what I know about the location:
Ballon d'Alscac is a mountain in the south of the Vogesen ca. 25 km north of BELFORT. There is a little lake near the village of Sewen. I think the race was from Sewen up the hill along the D466.
And there are two other Ballon's - Le Grand Ballon and Le Petit Ballon and they are are along the Route de Cretes. The Ballon d'Alsac is a little bit southwest of them. The road (D466) goes from Masevaux up to Lac de Seven ( there I think was the Start of the race) up to the summit Ballon d'Alsac. There you can go to St Maurice s-Moselle and into the Voges or you go down to Giromagny and to Belfort.
As you see all is confusing.
Where took the race place?
Where the two races at the same hill ?
Who can clear it up?
