No, no, no... by all means give yourselves time to get cars for this Christmas but I DO NOT require reimbursement.

I have loads of plastic to repair chassis and it costs me nothing but time - something I have plenty of, (I hope!).

If there is something you would like to do to help, I wouldn't mind if some flat aluminium bar could be located. I have begun to make new chassis from ally nowadays and I have so far had no joy trying to find it here. I'm pretty sure I bought the piece I have in B & Q, but there isn't a great deal of it left now.

The stuff I'm talking about is 2mm thick and 25mm wide. IIRC it comes in 1 meter lengths which of course would be impractical to send through the post but if it was cut into 200mm lengths each length would do me two chassis and it wouldn't cost much to send as it weighs very little.

I wouldn't want anyone to put themselves out on this one and I am more than happy to pay the expenses amassed if this task is doable.

Thank you all for the thought but please don't think you owe me anything at all.

Just completed a thorough examination of the sixteen cars that returned from the Kilton.

Contrary to Steve's comment, the screen from the Piper Lotus was not in any of the boxes; I expect it is or rather was on the floor of the room at the end of the evening. I guess that's where the two missing driver's heads were as well.

Still, never mind, small price to pay for an evening of enjoyment for all - or at least, for one, anyway.

Just listened to the Motor Sport podcast for this month and heard a familiar voice!

Nice one Simon are we allowed to give you challenges to get mentioned in future broadcasts?

Oh the shame.......

I can only apologise to all those who attended the Kilton Park Grand Prix last December.

I have begun stripping down many of the cars, and repairing others for 1960, when it suddenly dawned on me that several of the cars I sent over were equipped with THE WRONG REAR TYRES.

Whoever drove the Behra Porsche or the little silver 718 Porsche definitely had the wrong rubber as did one or two of the Coopers. But NOT the winning Piper Lotus.

It may be that Sebastion Nickson would have been given more of a run for his money had these cars had tyres that actually grip the track..... :(

Of course our representative from a well-known supplier of Gentleman's rubber requisites would have spotted this immediately, had he been present. ;)

 Of course

Mind you if Barry's cars had been fitted with our " Super Softs " from Australia the evening's racing might not have lasted more than a couple of laps

With the demise of the Masters Meeting at Oulton today, Alan and I enjoyed an extremely pleasant lunch infront of a roaring fire at " The Smoker "

Which got us thinking; is it not time for a " meet up " say week commencing 8th April?

If so, could you swing by Eastbourne and collect me too?

It's gone very quiet - Current count would appear to be dellboy59, Phil, Alan R and Steve W and Mallory Dan. I will have to cry off this one.
Would you like to suggest another date, or are you happy with a small, yet select, gathering?

A small but select group met at The Smoker last night. I reserved a table on arrival as the place was crawling. Those present were:
Paul Hurdsfield, Alan Raine, Phil Rainford, Rob Nickson, Derek Lawson & Steve Wilkinson.
Subjects touched on during the night were:

The Detroit GP - photos & characters
Oulton Park - Gold Cups, Season tickets, new grandstands and photography.
F5000 - in the UK, USA and Australia plus the F5000 book from down under.
Frank Hall
The British GP - Silverstone, Brands & Aintree
Hillclimbs & Sprints
Bill Henderson
The Lotus 7 Club Speed Championship
Curborough - this led to the following question from Kingsley Rob "Where is Curborough?"
Football - Man Utd, Sunderland, Benito di Canio, George Best, etc
Mrs Thatcher
Treading the Boards
Legends Racing Cars & Crashes
Pirelli Tyres
Rob's Retro Radio Review
Lulu's Birthday
Marshals
Crimes & Misdemenours
Long Necked Mammals
Rush the Film (as opposed to the hour)
Four American Drivers in F1
Autographs

We also discussed a whole bunch of drivers including Ayrton Senna Da Silva, Arturo Merzario, Jochen Rindt, James Hunt, Tim Lee Davey, JYS, Jim Clark, Stirling Moss, Nigel Mansell and Jack Brabham. Mike Beuttler was mentioned but we skirted round the subject of his sexuality.

For Dan's sake, who didn't make it to the meeting, it was a chassis number free evening despite us all wanting to talk about all the BT36-1 cars out there.

For the record The Smoker was dreadfully understaffed especially in the light of the numbers present which included a party of 25! We did mention it to one of the members of staff and they too were somewhat hacked off.

...and a good time was had by all :)

F5000 - in the UK, USA and Australia plus the F5000 book from down under.

Derek brought a long a copy of Ray Bell and friends effort. Very impressive although no lightweight.

Four American Drivers in F1

A quick check shows 5 entered for the 71 US GP (although 2 non qualified) and 4 finishers in the 72 US GP.

...but to their credit got a decent plate of food out fairly quickly.
