Table booked for 8. I'm sure they could take an extra 1 or 2, or indeed, 1 or 2 less.

Gentlemen, I'm afraid I've stupidly double booked tonight so will have to give it a miss, apologies.

My stupidity was aided by my phone dunping a whole load of data some weeks ago while installing what Apple laughingly call an "update".  Most was backed up onto my laptop but not everything alas.  I am just getting over losing over a year and a half of "Rob's Retro Show" recordings.

Have a good evening, and feel free to drop by and see me in the "Artisan Tent" at Oulton on Sunday and Monday.

Dan, I hear your race has star billing and is no longer the tail end filler this year.

Rob

I wonder if one of the topics which Sergeant Wilko will be reporting on tomorrow will be the new format

Sorry to hear that Kingsleylate is playing Kingsleynotarrivingatall tonight. His absence will be noted.

22nd August 2013 at The Eagle & Child

Those present were Steve Wilkinson, David Beard, Roger Clark, Dan & Jane Rear, Alan & Pat Cox and the late Phil Rainford.

Subjects under discussion were:

The Oulton Park Gold Cup

The Jam (not the tasty comestible but the pop group!)

The revamped TNF

"Good heavens it is busy in the pub"

Commentating Duties

Formula 3

Loton Park

Three Sisters

The Lost Generation

ITV Silverstone Classic

Simon Arron's Escapades

The Oulton Park Bridge

Silverstone Tyre Testing

Umpiring

Griffin Helmets

"What really happened with Pirelli at Silverstone during the British GP?"

The Penalty for Nicking Someone's Chips

Cricket

Barry Boor's Dunlop Cap

Motor Sport magazine

Anglesey

Attending RUSH

Anglesey Racing Circuit

The films "A Bridge Too Far" and "The Longest Day"

Historic Rallying

Le Mans

Formula 2

FF1600

FF2000

Harewood hillclimb

Sponsoring a race

Molson Beer

Moto GP

NB there may have been other subjects under discussion including (look away now Barry) Football. Maybe Alan Cox could furnish me with a list as he was sat at the other end of the table?

Simon Arron again posed questions via the ether from a bar in Spa - the answer to one was Patrick Gaillard. Whilst several questions were posed by attendees.

Q1 by Dan Rear - Which five drivers ran Lola T590s in 1980?

Q2 by Steve Wilkinson - What do the following drivers have in Common? Wolfgang von Trips, Rolf Stommelen and Xavier Perrot

There was also a foreign magazine (possibly Belgian) brought in by Alan Cox in which there some photos of F2 races. These also started questions flowing on the subject of 792s and Minardis.

I bet they sold alcohol!

Meanwhile a couple of photos I brought along that sparked a discussion:

Dutch, actually, Steve. It was the latest copy of TNFer Mark Koense's excellent RTL F1. I picked up my first-ever copy on a recent visit to Arnhem (hence the discussion about "A Bridge Too Far") and was bowled over by its quality and content. Please can we have an English version, Mark??

Re: discussion at the opposite end of the table, it centred (mainly) around Mr and Mrs Rear's recent holiday.

Ever waited ages for a bus to come along? This could be why:

Meanwhile Mr Taylor attempts to delay his Saturday evening meal at home as he explains he has to see the last Mini race

I'm pleased to say that I arrived in plenty of time for my bus tours, and had to double up on both the 1960 and 1968 coaches after fellow guide Oulton Phil was called away on urgent business.

A most enjoyable experience once again, seeing the expressions on faces - especially the youngsters - as our driver "Flash" Gordon clipped the apex at Esso.

Little did I think when I dragged my Dad there in 1965 that I'd be there in the 21st century giving coach tours and describing the changes in facilities and forestry.

The many hours on Sunday and Monday in the "Artisan Tent" weren't quite as much fun, but I did have the pleasure of the occasional TNFer passer by.

My Sunday Revival ticket arrived yesterday, I'm trying to hitch a lift down on Saturday as mentioned in my post on the relevant thread. No luck so far...

PS I'm pleased to say my springer spaniel inspired new lifestyle has enabled my belt to become visible - only recently it would have been obscured by my obese state. And that's despite fish and chips on Saturday night in the Red Lion with Mr and Mrs Giraffe, plus Suzanne and Libby.

Thanks for the shot Pete!!

:clap:Phil Rainford Speaks

Obviously not to the entire nation and obviously not at a genuine NE&W TNF meeting but the old grey donkey would like to invite you to join the star-struck members of the NW area of the Midget and Sprite Club to hear the great man. The date is the second Wednesday of November (13th); the time is 8pm and the location is currently The Kilton on the A50 between J20 M6 and Mere crossroads. If there is any change in venue I will post it here. Regards, Eeyore

I'm told ticket sales are outstripping those for the Korean GP by at least three to one.

That might mean only nine have sold, however.

Have you got WYSIWYG turned off? (It's the icon at the extreme top left in the reply box which doesn't tell you what it does when you pause the cursor over it). The emoticons etc don't seem to work with it off.

Excellent, Barry. I do find that with the new software I quite often seem to have inadvertently selected some reply box feature I didn't want at all. I don't know whether it's just me being clumsy or if there's a fault in the software.

I've been tittering so much over this case of mistaken identity I've got tears in my eyes. Although I'll be broadcasting to the planet until 8.00pm on the Wednesday in question I think I'll try to get along. I wonder if the Kilton allows well behaved dogs on the premises.

That's a mean looking A40 showing a clean pair of heels to a Jag Simon, nice shot!

Putting aside Phil's forthcoming appearance at the Kilton, ought we to be considering another get together, and making plans for the 2013 Kilton Park GP, another event with more attendees than the GP in Korea. Can't even bring meself to say Korean GP, doesn't seem right. Here's a few words that go well together, "French Grand Prix".

Has a manual been produced for the new forum yet, by any chance?

Dear TNFers,

:o  :o  :o How many red faces do you want? Another lesson learned...never let a deaf donkey book a speaker who is not known to him.You are still invited - even the muffled titterers. I am glad I could bring a little amusement to Kingsleyrob's life along with acute embarrassment to my own. Mr. Giraffe I believe you may well be correct - let's hope the real Mr. B'ford doesn't read this lot.
